2023–24 Liga II
The 2023–24 Liga II was the 84th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 20 teams contest the league. It is the eighth Liga II season with a single series. The first two teams will be promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed and fourth-placed team will play a play-off match against the 13th-placed and 14th-placed team from Liga I. The last four teams will be relegated to Liga III. The season began on 5 August 2023 and is scheduled to end in June 2024. Liga II
The Liga 2, most commonly spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07 football season. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company under the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Since its inception in 1934, Liga II has had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. But since the 2016–17 Liga II, 2016-17 Liga II, it changed to one group of 20 teams. Currently, the top six teams goes in the promotion play-off, in which the top 2 teams get promoted and the next 2 play a promotion play-off against teams from Liga I. 2023–24 Liga III
The 2023–24 Liga III will be the 68th season of Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. The season will begin in August 2023 and is scheduled to end in June 2024. Team changes FC Brașov saga FC Brașov had comfortably avoided relegation from Liga II last season, while Progresul Spartac were relegated after losing their last chance, the play-off against Metaloglobus. However FC Brașov did not have their finances in order and the FRF had no choice but to relegate them. FC Brașov appealed the decision, including at the court in Lausanne, but ultimately lost. On 7 August 2023, FC Brașov was definitively relegated from Liga II by the Romanian Football Federation, with Progresul Spartac being readmitted to the Liga II. Soon after leadership decided to disband the senior team of FC Brașov with the view to eventually merge with fellow city club SR Brașov, freeing up another spot in Liga III. FC Brașov (2021)
Asociația Clubul Sportiv Fotbal Club Brașov – Steagul Renaște (), commonly known as FC Brașov or simply Brașov, was a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Brașov, Brașov County. The team was formed in 2021 in order to become the legal successor of the original FC Brașov, which was dissolved five years earlier. The new entity has permission to use the original club brand and is supported by the local authorities; however, it has a continuity issue and was directly enrolled in the Liga II on the berth of Corona Brașov, a former rival of the original club. FC Unirea Constanța
Asociația Fotbal Club Unirea Constanța (), commonly known as Unirea Constanța, was a Romanian professional football club. Unirea was founded in the summer of 2021 by taking over Farul Constanța's berth in the second league; the move was approved after Farul left the spot open as a result of its merger with Liga I side Viitorul Constanța. History Unirea Constanța was established in the summer of 2021 on the ashes of the former Farul Constanța entity, its berth in the league championship remaining unused after the merger between Farul and Viitorul Constanța. Minaur Baia Mare, known also as ''Minerul Baia Mare'', is a Romanian football club, based in Baia Mare, Maramureș County, northern Romania, founded in 1947. Clubul Sportiv Mioveni (), commonly known as CS Mioveni or simply Mioveni, was a Romanian professional football club based in Mioveni, Argeș County, that competed in the Liga II. The team was founded in 2000 as ''AS Mioveni'' and began playing the fourth division. The following year, it merged with nearby Dacia Pitești and took its berth in the Divizia C. Asociația Fotbal Club Chindia Târgoviște (), commonly known as Chindia Târgoviște or simply Chindia, is a Romanian professional football club based in Târgoviște, Dâmbovița County, that competes in the Liga II.
