2023–24 Japan Figure Skating Championships
The 2023–24 Japan Figure Skating Championships were held in Nagano, Nagano on December 20–24, 2023. It was the 92nd edition of the event. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. The results were part of the Japanese selection criteria for the 2024 Four Continents Championships and the 2024 World Championships. Qualifying Competitors either qualified at regional and sectional competitions, held from September to November 2023, or earned a bye. List Of National Championships In Figure Skating
Many international and national figure skating competitions are organized yearly. The three levels of ISU international competition are senior, junior, and advanced novice. Non-elite skaters may also compete in 'Adult' competitions. Tim Koleto
is a retired American-born ice dancer. Competing for Japan with his ice dance partner and wife, Misato Komatsubara, they are the 2020 NHK Trophy gold medalists and five-time Japanese national champions (2018–21, 2023). Together, they also earned a silver medal from the team event at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Earlier in his career, Koleto competed with partner Yura Min for South Korea, winning the 2014 national title and placing tenth at the 2014 Four Continents. He also competed with Thea Rabe for Norway. Personal life Koleto was born June 17, 1991, in Kalispell, Montana. He married Misato Komatsubara in January 2017 in Okayama, Japan. 2024 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2024 World Figure Skating Championships were held from March 18–24, 2024, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), the World Championships are considered the most prestigious event in figure skating, second only to the Olympics. Montreal had originally been scheduled to host the 2020 World Championships, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The competition determined the entry quotas for each skating federation at the 2025 World Championships. The 2024 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held from January 30 to February 4, 2024, at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Qualification Nations from non-European countries were able to send three entries at most for each discipline. Age and minimum TES requirements The competition was open to skaters from all non-European member nations of the International Skating Union. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976.
