The 2023–24 season is Gabala FK's 19th season, and their 18th in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top-flight of Azerbaijani football. Season overview On 23 June, Gabala announced the signing of Ahmed Isaiah from Kapaz to a one-year contract. The following day, 24 June, Gabala announced the signing of Zurab Ochihava from Sabah to a two-year contract. On 2 July, Gabala announced the signing of Lucas Áfrico from Estoril to a one-year contract with the option of a second. Gabala Football Club ( az, Qəbələ Futbol Klubu ), also spelled Qabala, is an Azerbaijani association football club representing Qabala in the Azerbaijan Premier League since 2006. Gabala has been the runner up in the Premier League three times and has won the national cup once, in 2019. Gabala is one of the 2 teams that started the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League for 2 seasons and managed to move on to the group stage. History The club was founded under the name of ''Goy Gol'' on 3 July 1995, based in Goy Gol. On 1 September 2005, Goy Gol was registered in Gabala by the Ministry of Justice, before the AFFA registered the team as professional on 5 September of the same year. Sabah Football Club ( az, Sabah Futbol Klubu) is an Azerbaijani professional football club based in Masazır. The team plays in the Azerbaijan Premier League, their top tier of Azerbaijani football. History Sabah were formed on 8 September 2017, joining the Azerbaijan First Division for the 2017–18 season, in which they finished 5th. After the four teams above them in the league failed or decline promotion, Sabah were granted a license to participate in Azerbaijan Premier League on 12 May 2018. 2019–20 Gabala FC Season
The 2019–20 season was Gabala FK's 15th season, and their 14th in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top-flight of Azerbaijani football. Gabala will also take part in the Azerbaijan Cup and the Europa League. Gabala finished the season in 8th position due to the premature end of the season and were spared relegation, whilst they were due to play Zira in the Semifinal of the Azerbaijan Cup before its cancellation. In the Europa League Gabala were knocked out by Dinamo Tbilisi in the Second Qualifying Round. Season events On 15 June, Gabala announced the signing of Kamal Mirzayev and Sadig Guliyev from Zira, with both players signing one-year contracts. On 21 June, Gabala signed Fernań López to a one-year contract, with the option of an additional year, from Barakaldo. Clésio Palmirim David Baúque (born 11 October 1994), known simply as Clésio, is a Mozambican professional footballer who plays as a forward for Marítimo and the Mozambique national team. Adanaspor is a Turkish professional football club based in Adana, currently performing at the TFF First League. Samuel Tetteh (born 28 July 1996) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as a forward for Turkish club Adanaspor.
