2023–24 FC Groningen Season
The 2023–24 season was FC Groningen's 53rd season in existence and their first one back in the Eerste Divisie since 2000 after enduring a disastrous campaign the previous season. They also competed in the KNVB Cup. Under coach Dick Lukkien, Groningen finished as runners-up and won promotion back to the Eredivisie with a squad composed of many players who were recruited from Groningen's youth academy; the team defeated direct rivals Roda JC 2–0 on the last matchday to take second place from them. Football Club Groningen () is a Dutch professional association football club based in Groningen, Groningen (province), Groningen province. Founded in 1971 as the successor of GVAV-Rapiditas, GVAV, Groningen compete in the Eredivisie, the first tier of Football in the Netherlands, Dutch football. Nordin Musampa
Nordin Musampa (born 13 October 2001) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Vitesse. He is a nephew of former Ajax player Kiki Musampa. Club career Musampa began his football career with Zeeburgia and Elinkwijk, for whom he played until 2014. He then moved to Almere City for two years before moving to the renowned Ajax youth academy. Noam Fritz Emeran (born 24 September 2002) is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward or winger for Dutch club Groningen. Thijmen Blokzijl (born 25 February 2005) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Groningen. Liam van Gelderen (born 23 March 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a right-back for club RKC Waalwijk. Born in the Netherlands, he represents the Suriname national team. Nick Bakker (born 21 July 1992) is a former Dutch footballer who played as a centre back. Club career On 19 February 2012, Bakker made his Eredivisie debut against PSV.
