2023 York United FC Season
The 2023 York United FC season is the fifth season in the history of York United FC. In addition to the Canadian Premier League, the club will compete in the Canadian Championship. In April during the 2023 season, the club was sold from the Baldassarra family to Canadian Soccer Business with plans to transfer the club to new ownership. Current squad ''As of September 6, 2023.'' York United Football Club (formerly known as York9 FC) is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Toronto, Ontario. The club competes in the Canadian Premier League and plays its home games at York University's York Lions Stadium. History In December 2017, former Canadian international Jimmy Brennan stepped down as executive director of Aurora FC and announced his intentions to take a role within the Canadian Premier League. In March 2018, it was revealed that Brennan had been named executive vice-president of York Sports & Entertainment back in January. PAEEK ( el, ΠΑΕΕΚ; short for Ποδοσφαιρική Αθλητική Ένωση Επαρχίας Κερύνειας, ''Podosfairiki Athlitiki Enosi Eparxeias Kerynias'', translated as "Football and Sport Union of Kyrenia District", literally "Footballing Sportive Union of the District of Kyrenia") is a Cypriot sports club founded in Kyrenia in 1953 by graduates of Kyrenia Gymnasium and represented the first force to be reckoned from the small city. Brem Soumaoro
Abrahim Mohamed "Brem" Soumaoro (born 8 August 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Canadian club York United. Born in Guinea, he represents Liberia internationally. Club career Soumaoro made his Eerste Divisie debut for Jong FC Twente on 29 August 2014 in a game against RKC Waalwijk. In July 2018, after being released by Go Ahead Eagles, he trialled with 2. Noah Abraham Sewonet Abatneh (born September 28, 2004) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for York United in the Canadian Premier League. Early life Born in Toronto, Abateneh lived in both the Philippines and Egypt, before returning to Canada, moving to Ottawa in his childhood. Abatneh began playing youth soccer at age five with Ottawa St. Anthony Futuro Academy, also playing with the Ottawa Royals Futuro Academy. Ljungskile SK is a Swedish football club located in Ljungskile, a town within Uddevalla Municipality. They currently play in the Swedish third tier, Division 1. Roger Thompson (born 19 December 1991) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a centre-back for York United. Club career Early career After moving to Canada, Thompson started playing football at Brampton East SC. He later played with Vaughan SC.
