The 2023 Vancouver Whitecaps FC season was the club's thirteenth season in Major League Soccer, the top division of soccer in the United States and Canada. Including previous iterations of the franchise, this was the 46th season of professional soccer being played in Vancouver under a variation of the "Whitecaps" name. Having won the 2022 Canadian Championship, the Whitecaps participated in the CONCACAF Champions League for the first time since the 2016–17 edition and third time overall. The Whitecaps compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference. Thomas Hasal (born July 9, 1999) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC. Early life Born in Cambridge, Ontario, Hasal moved with his family to Ottawa when he was a year old, where he began playing soccer at age five. He then moved to Calgary at age seven, Edmonton at age eight, and Saskatoon at age nine. The 2022 Canadian Championship was the fifteenth edition of Canada's national soccer cup tournament, awarding the Voyageurs Cup. It took place from May 10 to July 26, 2022.
