2023 Super Rugby Americas Season
The 2023 Super Rugby Americas season is the fourth season of the Super Rugby Americas, an annual rugby union competition mainly for South American rugby clubs, although the first to be held under the Super Rugby Americas name. The regular season will begin on 17 February 2023. Format The seven clubs in the competition compete in the regular season, which takes place over 14 rounds and consists of a double round-robin, with each participating club playing two matches against each of the other six clubs. The top 4 clubs at the end of the regular season move on to the knockout stage where the clubs then play in a knockout tournament, consisting of semi-finals and eventually, the final. Teams A number of changes to teams competing in this competition happened for this edition. Yacare XV
Yacare XV is a Paraguayan professional rugby union team based in Asunción. The team was founded in 2019 as Olimpia Lions to compete in Súper Liga Americana de Rugby. Olimpia Lions was an offshoot of the Club Olimpia sports club. The team was re-branded ahead of the 2023 Super Rugby Americas season as "Yacare XV". The team's name and logo image are based on yacare caiman, a mid-size species of caiman native to Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia and adjacent parts of Brazil. Tala Rugby Club, or simply Tala, is an Argentine rugby union and field hockey club sited in Córdoba Province. The rugby team currently plays in the Torneo de Córdoba, the first division of the Unión Cordobesa de Rugby league system. Tala is the most winning club of Córdoba, with 23 titles to date. History "Tala Rugby Club" was founded in Córdoba on November 11, 1944, by rugby enthusiasts from the General Paz, Juniors and Alta Córdoba districts. The institution was established in a train carriage located on the land of one of the founders. This carriage was used as the first headquarters and became a symbol of the club's bohemian spirit. The Estadio Héroes de Curupayty is a rugby union stadium in Luque, Paraguay. It is owned by the National Government of Paraguay and administered by Secretaria Nacional de Deportes through the Paraguayan Rugby Union. The stadium is located within the Parque Olímpico, property of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, and it is the home ground of the Paraguay national rugby union team. In early 2020, the stadium underwent renovation works for a total amount of ₲ 2,998,882.813 and was reopened on 25 November 2020.
