2023 Summer World University Games
The 2023 FISU Summer World University Games (Universiade), the 32nd edition of the event, were to be held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Cancellation The games were suspended in 2022 as result of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine with FISU ruling that the event will not take place in the Russian city. Instead, the Chinese city of Chengdu, which was to have hosted in 2021 will now host in 2023. To replace the cancelled 2023 Summer World University Games, Russian authorities announced to host the first International University Sports Festival and participate in the third Russian-Chinese winter youth games instead. 2021 Summer World University Games
The 2021 Summer Universiade ( zh, 2021年夏季世界大学生运动会), the XXXI Summer World University Games, commonly known as the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, is a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), scheduled to be held from 28 July to 8 August 2023 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. These will be the third edition of the Games to be hosted by China, and the second edition to be branded under the "World University Games" title rather than "Universiade". The Games were originally scheduled from 16—27 August 2021. On 2 April 2021, it was announced that the Games would be postponed by one year to 2022 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, with scheduling to be announced at a later date. 2025 Summer World University Games
The 2025 FISU Summer World University Games ( Universiade), the XXXII Summer World University Games and commonly known as the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Summer World University Games, the 32nd edition of the event, is scheduled to be held from 16 to 27 July 2025 in five cities in Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region in Germany. The region also hosted the 1989 Summer Universiade in Duisburg who also host three sports this time. Host selection Sports In addition to the 15 mandatory sports, the organizing committee chose three more respecting the infrastructure and local demands. Rhine-Ruhr region has proposed beach volleyball, rowing and 3x3 basketball, along some paralympic disciplines as its optional sports. University International Sports Festival () is a regional sports event scheduled to be held by Russia in Yekaterinburg. The sports festival is scheduled to be held from 19 August 2023 to 31 August 2023, where 4,000 athletes aged 17 to 23 from 22 countries will contest for 193 medal events across 14 sports. The event is also one of the main events to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of Yekaterinburg.
