2023 Shriners Children's 200
The 2023 Shriners Children's 200 was the 11th stock car race of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the 42nd iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Darlington, South Carolina at Darlington Raceway, a permanent egg-shaped racetrack. The race took the scheduled 147 laps to complete. In an exciting last-lap battle, Kyle Larson, driving for Kaulig Racing, would capture the win after making contact with John Hunter Nemechek on the final turn, causing Nemechek to spin on the frontstretch. This was Larson's 14th career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. Larson and Nemechek would dominate the majority of the race, leading 46 and 57 laps, respectively. Darlington Raceway is a egg-shaped oval track in Darlington, South Carolina. The track has hosted a variety of racing events since its inaugural season of racing in 1950; primarily races sanctioned by NASCAR. The venue has a capacity of 47,000 as of 2021. Darlington Raceway is owned by NASCAR and led by track president Josh Harris. Darlington Raceway opened in 1950 under Darlington native Harold Brasington, who sought to replicate the success of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 in his hometown. Brasington quickly cut all ties with the facility, with Bob Colvin taking over control of the venue as president of the track. Under Colvin's tenure, the speedway underwent major expansion. Cole Matthew Custer (born January 23, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 41 Ford Mustang (seventh generation), Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Haas Factory Team. The website was founded by Jay "Jayski" Adamczyk in 1996 (who was a fan of Mark Donohue) after he had difficulty finding news regarding the Melling Racing team, and subsequently worked to get all NASCAR news grouped together on the site. Jason Charles Leffler (September 16, 1975 – June 12, 2013) was an American professional open-wheel and stock car racing driver.
