2023 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 17 December 2023 to elect members of the National Assembly (Serbia), National Assembly. While they were initially scheduled to be held by 30 April 2026, Aleksandar Vučić, the president of Serbia, called a snap election in November 2023. In addition to the parliamentary elections, the 2023 Vojvodina provincial election, Vojvodina provincial election and 2023 Serbian local elections, local elections were held in 65 cities and municipalities, including the capital, 2023 Belgrade City Assembly election, Belgrade. 2022 Serbian General Election
General elections were held in Serbia on 3 April 2022 to elect both the president of Serbia and members of the National Assembly. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić said that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. In addition to the general elections, local elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipalities and 2 cities, including Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power after the 2012 election when it formed a coalition government with the Socialist Party of Serbia. Usame Zukorlić
Usame Zukorlić ( sr-cyrl, Усаме Зукорлић; born 1992) is a Serbian politician and economist serving as minister without portfolio since 2024. He was previously a member of the National Assembly from 2022 to 2024. An ethnic Bosniak, he has been the president of the Justice and Reconciliation Party since 2021. Early life Zukorlić was born in Constantine, Algeria in 1992. His father was Muamer Zukorlić, a Bosniak mufti and politician, while his mother, Umeja Abu Taha, was a Palestinian who was born in Brazil. He attended primary and secondary school in Novi Pazar, and later studied at the International University, where he obtained his master's degree in economics, and Faculty of Islamic Studies. 2023 Vojvodina Provincial Election
Provincial elections were held in Vojvodina on 17 December 2023 to elect members of the Assembly of Vojvodina. Initially scheduled to be held by 30 June 2024, the possibility of calling a snap election was discussed in 2023. The Assembly dissolved itself on 16 November 2023, setting the election date for 17 December. It was concurrently held with the 2023 Serbian parliamentary election, parliamentary and 2023 Serbian local elections, local elections in 65 cities and municipalities in Serbia. Snap Election
A snap election is an election that is called earlier than the one that has been scheduled. Snap elections in parliamentary systems are often called to resolve a political impasse such as a hung parliament where no single political party has a majority of seats, when the incumbent prime minister is defeated in a motion of no confidence, to capitalize on an unusual electoral opportunity, or to decide a pressing issue. Snap elections are called under circumstances when an election is not required by law or convention. Aleksandar Vučić, (born 5 March 1970) is a Serbian politician serving as President of Serbia since 2017. A founding member of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), he previously served as President of the SNS from 2012 to 2023, Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, First Deputy Prime Minister from 2012 to 2014, and Prime Minister of Serbia from 2014 to 2017. Ana Brnabić ( sr-cyr, Ана Брнабић, ; born 28 September 1975) is a Serbian politician serving as president of the National Assembly of Serbia since 2024.
