The 2023 Scottish Open (officially the 2023 BetVictor Scottish Open) was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 11 to 17 December 2023 at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was the tenth Snooker world rankings, ranking event of the 2023–24 snooker season, 2023–24 season (following the 2023 Snooker Shoot Out (2023–24 season), Snooker Shoot Out and preceding the 2024 World Grand Prix, World Grand Prix), the third tournament in the Home Nations Series (following the 2023 English Open (snooker), English Open and 2023 Northern Ireland Open, Northern Ireland Open and preceding the 2024 Welsh Open (snooker), Welsh Open), and the sixth of eight tournaments in the season's European Series. BetVictor, founded in 1946, is an online gambling company based in Gibraltar, owned by British businessman and racehorse owner Michael Tabor. It provides services such as sports betting and online casinos. History The company was founded by William Chandler, the proprietor of Walthamstow Stadium, a greyhound racing track located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest in East London in 1931. The Home Nations Series, also known as the BetVictor Home Nations Series for sponsorship reasons, is a snooker tournament series in the four home nations of the United Kingdom. It began in the 2016–17 snooker season, combining two existing tournaments, the Scottish Open and Welsh Open, with two newly created tournaments, the English Open and Northern Ireland Open. History On 29 April 2015, Barry Hearn, chairman of World Snooker announced that from the 2016–17 snooker season on, a "Home Nations Series" would be added to the season's calendar. Joe O'Connor (snooker Player)
Joe O'Connor (born 8 November 1995) is an English professional snooker player from Leicester. He was the 2018 English Amateur Champion and a ranking event finalist at the 2022 Scottish Open and 2025 World Open. Career Amateur Previously a junior pool champion, O'Connor qualified for the snooker main draw as an amateur at the 2014 Wuxi Classic, then faced Neil Robertson at the 2014, and Mark Selby at the 2015 UK Championship. He won four events on the 2017–18 English amateur tour. Liam Graham (snooker Player)
Liam Graham (born 12 September 2004) is a Scottish professional snooker player. He won the EBSA European Under-21 Snooker Championship in March 2023. He was also runner-up in the 2024 Shoot Out. Early life Graham first played snooker with his grandfather in Cathcart, Glasgow. He also practised as a youngster with Scottish professional Alan McManus. He also practises with Fraser Patrick, Joel Connolly, Jordan Brown, and Mark Allen. The Leicester Arena (officially known as the Mattioli Arena due to sponsorship reasons) is a multi-purpose sports arena located in Leicester, England. European Series
The BetVictor European Series was a snooker tournament series established in 2019. It was expanded from four tournaments in the 2019–20 season to six tournaments in the 2020–21 season and then to eight tournaments from the 2021–22 season. The player who wins the most cumulative prize money in European Series events each season receives a bonus prize of £150,000; Judd Trump won the bonus prize in the first two and the fifth seasons, while John Higgins took the bonus in the third season, and Robert Milkins claimed it in the fourth.
