2023 San Diego Wave FC Season
The 2023 San Diego Wave FC season was the team's second as a professional women's soccer team. Wave FC played in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the top tier of women's soccer in the United States. The Wave finished the season with the best record, earning the NWSL Shield and a first-round bye to the playoff semi-finals where they were eliminated from the postseason. 2023 National Women's Soccer League Season
The 2023 National Women's Soccer League season will be the eleventh season of the National Women's Soccer League, the top division of women's soccer in the United States. Including the NWSL's two professional predecessors, Women's Professional Soccer (2009–2011) and the Women's United Soccer Association (2001–2003), it was the 17th overall season of FIFA and USSF-sanctioned top division women's soccer in the United States. Twelve teams will compete in the league. The NWSL regular season, comprising 22 games for each team, will begin on March 25 and end on November 11, 2023. For the first time, the NWSL Challenge Cup will run entirely concurrent with the regular season from April to September 9, 2023. Jaedyn Reese Shaw (born November 20, 2004) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward or attacking midfielder for San Diego Wave FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States U-20 national team. Shaw has represented the United States on the under-17, under-19 and under-20 national teams, and was named U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year in 2022. Olivia Van der Jagt (born July 7, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Seattle Reign FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Youth career Van der Jagt played youth soccer and volleyball starting at the age of 4, playing for Dos FC; PacNW; Eastside FC of Issaquah, Washington, where she won two Washington state championships; and the Kentridge High School Chargers of Kent, Washington. OL Reign
OL Reign is an American professional women's soccer team based in Seattle, Washington. Founded by Bill and Teresa Predmore in 2012 as Seattle Reign FC, it was one of eight inaugural members of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). In 2020, OL Groupe, the parent company of French clubs Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, became the team's majority owner and rebranded to its current name, badge, and colors. Kiara Shaelene "Kiki" Pickett (born April 30, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays for North Carolina Courage in the National Women's Soccer League. She was drafted fourth overall in the 2021 NWSL Draft by Kansas City, who sent $175,000 in allocation money to Sky Blue FC (since renamed NJ/NY Gotham FC) in exchange for the draft pick. Mille Gejl Jensen (born 23 September 1999) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for English Women's Super League club Crystal Palace and the Denmark national team. It was founded on January 9, 2017, after Stephen Malik acquired National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise rights from the Western New York Flash. Arin Hadley Wright (born Arin Hadley Walton Gilliland; December 25, 1992) is an American soccer player who currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women's Soccer League.
