2023 Rally Sweden
The 2023 Rally Sweden (also known as the Swedish Rally 2023) was a motor racing event for rally cars that held over four days between 9 and 12 February 2023. It marked the seventieth running of the Rally Sweden, and was the second round of the 2023 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. The event was also the first round of the 2023 Junior World Rally Championship. The 2023 event was based in Umeå, Västerbotten County and was consisted of eighteen special stages, covering a total competitive distance of . The 2023 FIA World Rally Championship is the fifty-first season of the World Rally Championship, an auto racing competition recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the highest class of international rallying. Teams and crews compete for the World Rally Championships for Drivers, Co-drivers, Manufacturers and Teams. Crews are free to compete in cars complying with Groups Rally1 to Rally5 regulations; however, only manufacturers competing with Rally1 cars homologated are eligible to score points in the manufacturers' championship. Kalle Rovanperä (; born 1 October 2000 in Jyväskylä) is a Finnish professional rally driver, who competes in the World Rally Championship for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, alongside co-driver Jonne Halttunen. A special stage (SS) is a section of closed road at a stage rallying event used for timed speed tests. Racers attempt to complete the stage in the shortest time. The World Rally Championship (abbreviated as WRC) is the highest level of global competition in the motorsport discipline of rallying, owned and governed by the FIA. Rally is a wide-ranging form of motorsport with various competitive motoring elements such as speed tests (often called ''rally racing),'' navigation tests, or the ability to reach waypoints or a destination at a prescribed time or average speed.
