The 2023 Rally de Portugal (also known as the Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2023) was a motorsport, motor racing event for rallying, rally cars held over four days between 11 and 14 May 2023. It marked the fifty-sixth running of the Rally de Portugal, and was the fifth round of the 2023 World Rally Championship, 2023 World Rally Championship-2, World Rally Championship-2 and 2023 World Rally Championship-3, World Rally Championship-3. The World Rally Championship (abbreviated as WRC) is an international rallying series owned and governed by the FIA. Inaugurated in 1973, it is the oldest FIA world championship after Formula One. Each season lasts one calendar year, and typically consists of 13 three- to four-day rally events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is usually split into 15–25 special stages which are run against the clock on up to of closed roads. Separate championship titles are awarded to drivers, co-drivers and manufacturers. Enni Mälkönen
Enni Mälkönen (born 25 September 1990) is a Finnish rally co-driver. She won the World Rally Championship-3 co-drivers' championship in 2022, and the World Rally Championship-2 co-drivers' championship in 2024. Career Mälkönen previously competed in show jumping, but decided to take up rallying after her horse was injured. Her father was also a rally driver. Mälkönen made her rally debut in 2012. Mälkönen won the WRC3 co-drivers' championship in 2022, making her the first woman to win the championship in any WRC class. A special stage (SS) is a section of closed road at a Race stage, stage rallying event used for timed speed tests. Racers attempt to complete the stage in the shortest time. A race on a special stage is coordinated such that each competing racer begins after a set interval, to reduce the chance of impedance by other competitors. Each special stage is usually between and in length. Some stages may be as long as in length. A Rallying, rally usually comprises approximately 15–30 special stages, over multiple days of an event.
