2023 Paraguayan Primera División Season
The 2023 Primera División season (officially the Copa de Primera Tigo – Ueno 2023 for sponsorship reasons) was the 89th season of the Paraguayan Primera División, the top-flight professional football league in Paraguay. The season consisted of two tournaments, Apertura and Clausura, and it began on 27 January and ended on 1 December 2023. The fixtures for the season were announced on 14 November 2022. In the Torneo Apertura, Club Libertad, Libertad were the champions, clinching their twenty-third title with three matches in hand following a 1–0 win over Club Olimpia, Olimpia and a 2–1 defeat for Cerro Porteño against Club General Caballero (Juan León Mallorquín), General Caballero (JLM) on 20 May. Estadio Ka'arendy, previously known as Estadio Leandro Ovelar, is a football stadium in Paraguay that is located in the downtown area of the city of Dr. Juan León Mallorquín, about 650 meters north of route PY02. Defensores del Chaco Stadium (, ; , named after the Paraguayan Chaco soldiers in the Chaco War) is a multi-purpose stadium in Asunción, Paraguay. Tacuary
Club Tacuary is a Paraguayan First Division football team, based in the neighborhood of Jara in Asunción. The club was founded in 1923. Tacuary qualified for the Copa Libertadores tournament twice (in 2005 and 2007) and the Copa Sudamericana three times (in 2007, 2012 and 2023). In 2013 it returned to the Paraguayan Segunda División. In the 2021 season of Paraguay's División Intermedia, Tacuary finished 3rd and was promoted to the Primera División. 12 de Octubre Football Club is a Paraguayan football club from the city of Itauguá that currently plays in the División Intermedia, the second division of Football in Paraguay. Founded in 1914, the club's home venue is Estadio Luis Alberto Salinas Tanasio. The club is the only club outside the Asuncion Metropolitan Area to win a league title.
