2023 PEI Tankard
The 2023 PEI Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship for Prince Edward Island, was held from January 25 to 29 at the Crapaud Community Curling Club in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island. The event was held in conjunction with the 2023 Prince Edward Island Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's championship. The winning Tyler Smith rink represented Prince Edward Island at the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier in London, Ontario where they finished eighth in Pool B with a 2–6 record. This is the first time since 2021 that the event will be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. Adam Casey (curler)
Adam Adrian Casey (born August 28, 1989) is a Canadian curler originally from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He currently skips his own team. Career As a junior, Casey played in Prince Edward Island as the third on the Brett Gallant junior men's team. As a member of the team, Casey won 5 straight provincial junior championships from 2006 to 2010 inclusively. In 2007, they won a bronze medal at the Canada Winter Games. The team won the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and won a silver medal at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships. After juniors in 2010, Casey moved to Nova Scotia to play third for the Chris Sutherland rink. The team made it to the 2011 Nova Scotia Men's Molson Provincial Championship, but they were eliminated before the playoffs. Montague is a community within the Town of Three Rivers in Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Ian MacAulay
Ian MacAulay (born March 25, 1964 in Souris, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler and ice technician from Ottawa, Ontario. He played second for team Ontario at the 2003 Nokia Brier. Earlier in his career, MacAulay won the 1993 Fairfield Marriott Challenge and the 1993 Dominion Regalia Silver Tankard. He would later join the Bryan Cochrane rink at second. The team won the 2003 Ontario Nokia Cup, the provincial men's championship. This earned the team the right to play in the 2003 Nokia Brier, where they finished with a 5–6 record. MacCaulay won the 2016 and 2018 Canadian Senior Curling Championships playing third for Cochrane and won a silver medal at the 2017 World Senior Curling Championships. He made his second Brier appearance in 2020, playing third on the P.E.I. team skipped by Bryan Cochrane. Bryan Cochrane (born October 9, 1957 in Winchester, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Russell, Ontario. Cochrane is most notable for winning the 2019 World Senior Curling Championships for Canada, and skipping team Ontario at the 2003 Nokia Brier and later team PEI at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier. Curling career After repeatedly making it to provincial championships, and failing to win, finally Cochrane in 2003 became only the fourth Ottawa-based team to play in the Brier. Cornwall is a Canadian town located in Queens County, Prince Edward Island. The town is located immediately west of the provincial capital Charlottetown. History The community of Cornwall traces its history to European settlement in the 18th century and was a predominantly farming community until the construction of Route 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, during the early 1910s. Several subdivisions were created near the intersection of the new highway with the Meadowbank Road, along with a small commercial strip. Cornwall Curling Club
The Cornwall Curling Club is a curling club in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Canada. History The Cornwall Village Council decided in 1979 to build a curling rink in the community, and construction began in 1981. The club officially opened in January 1982. Despite a number of hiccups in its first season, it did not take long for the club to produce a provincial champion. Nancy Coffin, Sharon Cole, Pam Sherren, and Heather Worth won the 1983 Prince Edward Island Junior Women's curling championship.
