2023 Mérida Open
The 2023 Mérida Open Akron was a WTA 250 tournament organised for female professional tennis players on outdoor hardcourts as part of the 2023 WTA Tour. The event took place at the Yucatán Country Club in Mérida, Mexico, from 20 through 26 February 2023 as a replacement for Abierto Zapopan. The tournament was the first of its class in the city of Mérida. The main sponsor of the tournament was AKRON, and it was organized with a team formed by WTA representatives and GSSPORTS management; a Mexican enterprise dedicated to conducting and directing this event under the lead of tournament director Gustavo Santoscoy. WTA 250 Tournaments
WTA 250 is a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. Earlier these events were classified as WTA International tournaments, WTA International Tournaments. At their introduction in 2021, WTA 250 tournaments' prize money was approximately $250,000. As of 2025 WTA Tour, 2025 season, this has risen to $275,094. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 250. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam tournament ("Major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, 1000 points for winning a WTA 1000 tournament, and 500 for winning a WTA 500 tournament. Kateřina Siniaková (; born 10 May 1996) is a Czech professional tennis player. She is the current List of WTA number 1 ranked doubles tennis players, world No. 1 in doubles. Ana Konjuh
Ana Konjuh (; born 27 December 1997) is a Croatian tennis player. A successful junior player, Konjuh won both the 2013 Australian Open – Girls' singles, singles and 2013 Australian Open – Girls' doubles, doubles junior events at the 2013 Australian Open, Australian Open in January 2013 and, as a result, moved up to No. 1 in the ITF Junior Circuit, ITF Junior world rankings. Léolia Jeanjean (born 14 August 1995) is a French tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 92 by the WTA, achieved on 9 June 2025.
