The 2023 Memphis 901 FC season was the fifth season for Memphis 901 FC in the USL Championship, the second-tier professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. New head coach Stephen Glass had a rough start to the season with back to back 1-3 home losses. Memphis 901 FC found their rhythm though and went undefeated in the months of April, May, and June with a record of 8-0-4 (W-L-D). They hit a slump in July with 2 draws and 4 losses while being scored against 18 times. They finished the season with 52 from a record of 14–10–10. Their 52pts landed them in 4th place in the east and a home playoff match. The playoffs began on October 21 as Memphis hosted Louisville City. 901 FC went up quick with a 32 second goal by Bruno Lapa - 2nd fastest in League history at the time. Memphis 901 FC
Memphis 901 FC was an American professional soccer team based in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 2018, the team made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. On November 13, 2024, it was announced that the team would be folding after they were unable to secure funding for a new soccer-specific stadium at the fairgrounds site. The USL Championship franchise rights were transferred to Santa Barbara Sky FC, based in Santa Barbara, California. Colors and badge The club's name referred to the local area code for the Memphis area. On September 1, 2018, Memphis 901 FC unveiled their logo, which uses concentric lines styled like neon signs to form a LP record; the lines are a reference to Beale Street, which has several buildings that use neon signage. Thomas Williamson (soccer)
Thomas "Tommy" Williamson (born May 5, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Loudoun United in the USL Championship. Career Youth Williamson was born in Anaheim Hills, California. He played youth soccer as part of the USSDA academy team Strikers FC in Irvine, forgoing high school soccer at Villa Park High School. Williamson was in the top 10 in his division's scoring table during the 2015–16 season, scoring 18 goals in 34 games and tallying 12 assists. He graduated with a 4.3 GPA and accepted a scholarship to play soccer for the University of California, Berkeley. Graham Smith (born November 25, 1995) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Charleston Battery in the USL Championship. College and youth Smith grew up in Colorado where he played soccer while attending Mountain Vista High School. He played two years of college soccer at Oregon State University between 2014 and 2015, before transferring to the University of Denver in 2016.
