2023 Melbourne Storm Season
The 2023 Melbourne Storm season was the 26th in Melbourne Storm, the club's history, competing in the 2023 NRL season. The team was coached by Craig Bellamy (rugby league), Craig Bellamy, coaching the club for his 21st consecutive season. Melbourne Storm were captained by Christian Welch who was captain for the second consecutive season. Melbourne qualified for their 13th consecutive finals series, but were eliminated via a preliminary final loss against the Penrith Panthers. Season summary * Preseason – New recruits from the 2022–23 season took part in Melbourne Storm IDQ camp for pre season before New Years. The 2023 NRL season is the 116th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 26th season run by the National Rugby League. Teams For the 2023 season, the number of teams in the NRL has increased from sixteen to seventeen with the inclusion of a fourth Queensland-based club, the Dolphins, based at Redcliffe. It is the first time the number of Premiership teams has changed since 2007 when the Gold Coast Titans joined the competition. The National Rugby League (NRL) is an Australasian rugby league club competition which contains clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand. Sualauvi Fa'alogo (born 19 March 2003) is a Samoan international rugby league footballer who plays as a or er for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League (NRL). Early life Fa'alogo was born in Samoa and raised in Melbourne, Australia. While living in Melbourne, he was educated at Mount Ridley College, Craigieburn. Justin Olam (born 23 December 1993) is a Papua New Guinean professional rugby league footballer who plays as a for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League (NRL), and Papua New Guinea at international level. 2023 All Stars Match
The 2023 All Stars match was the 12th annual representative exhibition All Stars match of Australian rugby league. The match was played between the Indigenous All Stars and the Māori All Stars at Rotorua International Stadium on 11 February 2023, marking the first occasion the All Stars fixture was played outside of Australia. For the second time since the introduction of the All Stars concept, the teams were not selected through public voting. Nelson Asofa-Solomona (born 29 February 1996) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who plays as a for the Melbourne Storm in the NRL and New Zealand at international level. Asofa-Solomona won the 2017 NRL Grand Final and the 2020 NRL Grand Final with Melbourne.
