2023 Melbourne Formula 3 Round
The 2023 Melbourne FIA Formula 3 round was a motor racing event held between 31 March and 2 April 2023 at the Albert Park Circuit. It was the second round of the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship and was held in support of the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying Notes: * – Hunter Yeany originally qualified 22nd by setting a lap time of 1:35.132, but was given a 10-place grid drop for Saturday's Sprint Race and his time was deleted as he was found to be significantally speeding under double yellow flag conditions while setting his fastest lap time. As a result, the penalty dropped him to P26 in the final classification and to P29 for the Sprint Race. * – Tommy Smith originally qualified 28th, but was given a carrying penalty from the Sakhir Feature Race for his involvement in two incidents. Albert Park Circuit
The Albert Park Circuit is a motorsport street circuit around Albert Park Lake, three kilometres south of central Melbourne. It is used annually as a circuit for the Formula One Australian Grand Prix, the supporting Supercars Championship Melbourne 400 and other associated support races. The circuit has an FIA Grade 1 license. Although the entire track consists of normally public roads, each sector includes medium to high-speed characteristics more commonly associated with dedicated racetracks facilitated by grass and gravel run-off safety zones that are reconstructed annually. Franco Alejandro Colapinto (born 27 May 2003) is an Argentine-Italian racing driver who is due to compete in FIA Formula 3 for MP Motorsport. Taylor Barnard (born 1 June 2004) is a British racing driver who is currently racing for Jenzer Motorsport in FIA Formula 3. He is the reigning ADAC Formula 4 runner-up, as well as a protégé of Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg. Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series.
