2023 LPL Season
The 2023 LPL season was the 11th season of the ''League of Legends'' Pro League (LPL), a Chinese professional esports league for the video game ''League of Legends''. The season was divided into two splits: Spring and Summer. The Spring Split began on January 14, 2023, and culminated with the Spring Split Finals on April 15, 2023. The Summer Split began on May 29, 2023, and culminated with the LCS Championship Final on August 5, 2023. JD Gaming won the Spring Split playoffs, directly qualifying them for the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), while Bilibili Gaming finished as the runners-up, qualifying them for the MSI play-in stage. JD Gaming also won the Summer Split playoffs, earning a direct qualification to the 2023 World Championship. Bilibili Gaming qualified for the 2023 World Championship via Championship Points, and both LNG Esports and Weibo Gaming also qualified for the 2023 World Championship through the Regional Finals. League Of Legends Pro League
The ''League of Legends'' Pro League (LPL) is the top-level professional league for ''League of Legends'' in China. The first season of the LPL was the 2013 Spring season. The top three finishers of the playoff tournament receive automatic bids to the League of Legends World Championship, ''League of Legends'' World Championship. Playoffs are an eight team single elimination with each step a best-of-five series. The total prize pool is ¥2,350,000. In 2014 Riot Games began providing an English language broadcast. The format is modeled after the League of Legends Champions Korea, ''League of Legends'' Champions Korea format in South Korea. In September 2015 it was announced that Riot Games was in negotiations with Tencent to take over operations of the league. Ninjas in Pyjamas (often abbreviated to NIP and NiP) is a professional esports organisation based in Sweden that is best known for its '' Counter-Strike'' teams. In 2012, the team reformed with a '' Counter Strike: Global Offensive'' lineup upon the release of the game. Aside from ''Counter-Strike'', the organisation has teams in ''Valorant'', '' Rainbow Six Siege'', ''FIFA'', ''Rocket League'', '' Fortnite Battle Royale'' and ''League of Legends''. Seo Jin-hyeok (; born November 2, 2000), better known as Kanavi, is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for JD Gaming of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL). Throughout his career, he has won four LPL titles and one Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) title. He also represented the South Korean national team at the 2022 Asian Games, earning a gold medal. Kanavi's career began in 2019 when he joined LCK team Griffin as a substitute. He joined LPL team JD Gaming on a loan from Griffin later that year. However, after an investigation by Riot Games and KeSPA that revealed Griffin was in violation of tampering rules, contract length regulations, and undue pressure on Kanavi, he was released from his contract at the end of the year.
