2023 Itzulia Women
The 2023 Itzulia Women was a Spanish women's cycle stage race that was held in the Basque Country from 12 to 14 May 2023. The 2023 edition of the race was the second running of Itzulia Women, being held as part of the 2023 UCI Women's World Tour. The race was won by Swiss rider Marlen Reusser of SD Worx. The SD Worx team dominated the event, winning 4 of the 5 classifications. Route The race uses the hilly landscape of the Basque Country, with seven categorised climbs over the 3 stages, including the famed Jaizkibel climb (7.9 km at 5.6%) used in the Clásica de San Sebastián. Summary Prior to the race, the 2023 La Vuelta Femenina was fought between Demi Vollering of SD Worx and Annemiek van Vleuten of Movistar Team (women's team), Movistar Team. 2023 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2023 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that included twenty-seven road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2023 in women's road cycling, 2023 women's cycling season. It was the eighth edition of the UCI Women's World Tour, the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with the 2023 Women's Tour Down Under, Women's Tour Down Under from 15 to 17 January, and finished with the Tour of Guangxi on 17 October. Dutch rider Demi Vollering (SD Worx) won the individual classification with 4891.86 points, leading the classification for the majority of the season. She had seven overall victories, including winning all three Ardennes classics, as well as the second edition of 2023 Tour de France Femmes, Tour de France Femmes. Young rider classification () in a cycling jersey competition in multi-day stage race events, such as the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and many others, is an award for the current leader by overall time for riders below the age of twenty-six years (or twenty-three years) depending on the race rules. At the Tour Down Under recipients are aged under twenty-six. Recipients are commonly known as the Best young rider. In stage racing, the fastest overall time of all riders below the age limit is awarded the cycling jersey, often the jersey color is white, in the same fashion the fastest time of all riders (regardless of age) is awarded in the general classification. King Of The Mountains
The King of the Mountains (KoM) is an award given to the best climbing specialist in a men's cycling road race; in women's cycle racing, Queen of the Mountains (QoM) is used. While the title may be given to the rider who achieves the highest position over several designated climbs in a single-day road race, it is more usually applied to stage races (for example, the Grand Tours, Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España) where points are accumulated over the duration of the whole race. In the Tour de France, where it is officially known as the Mountains classification, at the top of each significant climb, points are awarded to the riders who are first over the top. Points Classification
The points classification is a secondary award category in road bicycle racing. Points are given for high finishes and, in some cases, for winning sprints at certain places along the route, most often called ''intermediate sprints''. The points classification is the top prize for many cycling sprinters and is often known as the sprint classification; however, in some stage races these classifications are based on different criteria. General Classification
The general classification (or the GC) in road bicycle racing is the category that tracks overall times for riders in multi-stage races. Each stage will have a stage winner, but the overall winner in the GC is the rider who has the fastest cumulative time across all stages.BBC Sport http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/tour_de_france/378101.stm Hence, whoever leads the GC is generally regarded as the overall leader or winner of the race. Riders who finish in the same group are awarded the same time, with possible subtractions due to time bonuses.
