2023 Herculis
The 2023 Herculis was the 37th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Monaco. Held on 21 July at Stade Louis II, it was the ninth leg of the 2023 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. At the meeting, Faith Kipyegon broke the women's mile world record, taking it from 4:12.33 to 4:07.64 and bringing it roughly in line with her earlier 1500 m world record at the 2023 Golden Gala. Behind her, every other competitor in the race set a personal best or national record, including the Irish record, British record, Australian record, American record, French record, and Venezuelan record. The depth of the race made it unique among all other mile races, as continental records were also set for Africa, Oceania, North America, and South America. Stade Louis II
The Stade Louis II (, ), or simply Louis II is a stadium located in the Fontvieille district of Monaco, near the border with Cap-d'Ail commune of France. It serves primarily as a venue for Athletics and football, being the home of AS Monaco. The stadium is most notable for its distinctive nine arches at the away end of the ground. The arena is also used for the Herculis, a track and field meet of the Diamond League. The stadium hosted the 1986 and 1998–2012 UEFA Super Cup matches. He owns the Ivorian national records in the 60 m, 100 m, 150 m, and 200 m distances, including a sub-10 second time of 9.93 s in the 100 m. Courtney Lindsey (born November 18, 1998) is an American track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. Early life Born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois, he attended Rock Island High School. He used to train at a boxing gym in the Quad Cities operated by his step father. Lindsey began his collegiate career at Iowa Central Community College. Kishane Thompson (born 17 July 2001) is a Jamaican track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. He won the silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 100 metres event. Career A member of the MVP Track Club, Thompson competed at the Jamaican Championships in June 2023, and ran 9.91 seconds for the 100 metres in his qualifying heat. Ackeem Blake (born January 21, 2002) is a Jamaican sprinter. Blake came fourth in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Career In 2022, Blake competed at the Music City Track Carnival in Nashville, he ran a big personal best of 9.92s in the 100 m. Letsile Tebogo (; born 7 June 2003) is a Botswana sprinter. He won the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 200 metres event, with his win earning the first-ever Olympic gold medal for Botswana. He also won the silver medal at the 2023 World Championships in the 100 m and followed it up with a bronze medal in the 200 m five days later.
