Local elections were held in Greece on 8 October 2023 and, where a second round is required, on 15 October 2023. Voters will elect representatives to the country's local authorities, comprising 13 regions and 332 municipalities. Following the implementation on 1 January 2011 of the Kallikratis Plan, the administrative divisions of Greece consist of two main levels: the regions and the municipalities. 2023 Greek Local Elections In Crete
The 2023 Cretan regional election took place on 8 October 2023, simultaneously with 2023 Greek local elections, the rest of Greece. The election was for all 45 elected seats of the Regional Council of Crete as well as the Regional Governor. This was the fourth Cretan regional election and the incumbent Governor (Stavros Arnaoutakis, PASOK) ran for a fourth consecutive term. The ballot resulted in the election of Stavros Arnaoutakis, the incumbent Governor, as Regional Governor with 78% of the votes. The left-wing candidate, former Syriza, SYRIZA MP Spyros Danellis, came in second with 11 percent. The KKE candidate, Alekos Marinakis, received 8 percent of the vote. Haris Doukas (born 12 May 1980) is a Greek mechanical engineer and Professor of energy policy and management at the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. Doukas is the Mayor of Athens , having assumed office on 1 January 2024, succeeding Kostas Bakoyannis. Konstantinos Zervas ( el, Κωνσταντίνος Ζέρβας; born 1964) is the 61st and current mayor of Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece. Konstantinos Zervas was born in Thessaloniki in 1964.
