2023 FairBreak Invitational T20 Hong Kong
The 2023 FairBreak Invitational T20 was the second edition of the FairBreak Invitational T20, a women's Twenty20 cricket competition, which was held from 3 to 16 April 2023 at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong. The tournament, sanctioned by the ICC, was being privately run by FairBreak Global, a company that aims to promote gender equality. A total of 90 players from 28 countries were spread across six teams. The tournament was won by Warriors, who beat Falcons in the final by 94 runs. An additional tournament for 2023, staged in collaboration with USA Cricket, will be played in Houston, Texas, USA, between 15 and 30 September 2023. Competition format Teams played each other team once, with two matches taking place on most days. The top four teams in the group advanced to the semi-finals. FairBreak Global
FairBreak Global is an Australian company that aims to improve gender equality, especially in relation to the game of cricket. In particular, it seeks to improve the financial gap between men's and women's cricket, along with differences in quality of play and available opportunities for women. The company's main activity is the organisation and management of a women's cricket competition, the FairBreak Invitational T20 tournament. Objectives FairBreak's vision is " world where people have fair and equal access to opportunities that enable them to succeed in their chosen endeavor, independent of gender or geographical location." Falcons (women's Cricket)
Falcons is a women's franchise cricket team, which was founded in 2022, and competes in the FairBreak Invitational T20. The team has no geographical base. They are currently being captained by Suzie Bates and coached by Joanne Broadbent. The rights and sponsorship of the franchise is currently acquired by K-Man Ventures. History Falcons were formed in April 2022 to compete in the inaugural edition of the FairBreak Invitational T20, a multi-national women's Twenty20 cricket tournament, with Saba Nasim as the team manager. This was the first time that the team participated in any cricket competition at professional level. Roberta de Melo Moretti Avery (born 9 July 1985) is a Brazilian cricketer and the captain of the national women's cricket team. Career Early life and career Moretti was born in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais as part of a sporting family: her parents played golf. She initially played golf in her hometown, until the age of 16, being part of Brazilian team for the Youth South American team, in Uruguay 2000 competition. Kanwardeep Keenu Gill (born 8 July 1990) is a Hong Kong women's cricketer. She is an all-rounder, has captained the side, and has played domestic cricket for Kowloon Cricket Club Maidens. Career Gill played in Hong Kong's first match, against Pakistan. During the 2007 Asian Cricket Council 30-over tournament in Malaysia, Gill top scored with 10 from 41 balls in a match against Nepal; Hong Kong scored only 31 runs, and lost by 7 wickets. Kavisha Kumari Egodage (born 23 April 2003) is a women's cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national team. Career A right-handed batswoman and a right-arm off spin bowler, Kavisha has experienced success from a young age. At 11 years old she was selected for the UAE Women's Team in the 2014 Gulf Cup Championship in Oman. Deandra Jalisa Shakira Dottin (born 21 June 1991) is a Barbadian cricketer and former track and field athlete. A right-handed batter and right-arm fast bowler, Dottin made her debut for the West Indies women's cricket team in June 2008.
