2023 Championship League (invitational)
The 2023 Championship League Invitational was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament, which took place from 19 December 2022 to 2 March 2023 at the Morningside Arena in Leicester, England. John Higgins defended his title, winning the tournament for the fourth time after beating Judd Trump 3–1 in the final. Championship League
Championship League (officially the BetVictor Championship League Snooker) is a professional snooker tournament devised by Matchroom Sport. The event was introduced in 2008 Championship League, 2008 as an invitational qualifier to the Premier League Snooker series, where there is no audience and matches are played behind closed doors, and has since kept the unique format despite the discontinuation of the Premier League in 2012. It is one of the only tournaments that is not directly sanctioned by the World Snooker Tour along with the Champion of Champions (snooker), Champion of Champions. The tournament was originally held at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, Essex until 2016 and has since been held in Coventry, Barnsley, Milton Keynes and currently in Leicester. Matthew Selt
Matthew Selt (born 7 March 1985) is an English professional snooker player. He qualified for the professional tour by finishing seventh in the Pontin's International Open Series in 2006/2007. Selt played in his first professional final in 2014 at the minor-ranking Lisbon Open, which he lost to Stephen Maguire, and has reached five quarter-finals in full ranking events. Selt won his first ranking title when he beat Lyu Haotian in the 2019 Indian Open final. In February 2025, a World Snooker disciplinary inquiry into Selt's behaviour at the 2024 Saudi Masters imposed a suspended sentence of three months, fined him £10,000 and made him pay the governing body's costs in bringing the case; Selt apologised unreservedly for his actions. Xiao Guodong
Xiao Guodong (; born 10 February 1989) is a Chinese professional snooker player. He turned professional in 2007 after winning the Asian Under-21 Championships. He won his first ranking event 17 years after first turning professional at the 2024 Wuhan Open (snooker), 2024 Wuhan Open, beating Si Jiahui 107 in only the third all-Chinese ranking event final. Mark Williams (snooker Player)
Mark James Williams (born 21March 1975) is a Welsh professional snooker player who is a three-time World Champion, winning the title in 2000, 2003 and 2018. He has been ranked the world number one player three times (May 2000 May 2002, May 2003 May 2004 and May 2011 September 2011). His most successful season to date was 200203, when he won snooker's Triple Crown—the UK Championship, the Masters and the World Championship—making him only the third player, after Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry, to have won all three events in the same season. Gary Wilson (snooker Player)
Gary Wilson (born 11 August 1985) is an English professional snooker player from Wallsend in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear. After showing promise from a young age, Wilson won the IBSF World U-21 Championship before turning professional in 2004. He dropped off the tour in 2006, however, and did not regain his professional status until 2013. During his second period as an amateur, Wilson won the English Amateur Championship in 2012 and reached the final of the World Amateur Championship the same year. WPBSA
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is the governing body of professional snooker and English billiards. It is headquartered in Bristol, England. Founded as the Professional Billiard Players Association (PBPA) in 1946, with Joe Davis as chairman, it was revived in 1968 after some years of inactivity and renamed the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association in 1970. Zhao Xintong (; born 3 April 1997) is a Chinese professional snooker player and the reigning World Snooker Champion. He first turned professional in the 2016–17 season, aged 19, having previously recorded wins against a number of top professionals while competing as an amateur wildcard. Ricky Walden
Ricky Walden (born 11 November 1982) is an English professional snooker player from Chester. Walden turned professional in 2000 and it took him eight years to win his first ranking title at the Shanghai Masters. He has since won the 2012 Wuxi Classic and the 2014 International Championship and has been inside the top 16 in the season-ending rankings on four occasions. A former world Top 6 player, Walden has reached the televised stages of the World Snooker Championship on nine occasions as of 2023, with his best result being a semi-finalist in 2013. Kyren James Wilson (; born 23 December 1991) is an English professional snooker player from Kettering. He has won 10 ranking titles. Robert Milkins
Robert Milkins (born 6 March 1976) is an English professional snooker player known for quick play. Milkins has been a member of snooker's main tour since regaining a tour card in 1998. Milkins reached a career high rank of 12 in 2014 and 2023, and has been in and around the world's top 32 for two decades. Jamie Jones (snooker Player)
Jamie Jones (born 14 February 1988) is a Welsh professional snooker player from Neath. At the age of 14 he was the youngest ever player to make a maximum 147 break in competition, a record that has since been beaten by Judd Trump.
