2023 Calcutta Premier Division
The 2023 CFL Premier Division is the 125th overall season of the Calcutta Football League – highest state-level football divisions of West Bengal. The 2023 edition saw two top tiers merged, with 26 teams participating in the tournament for the first time since its inception. Format The 2023 CFL Premier Division merged the top two tiers, Premier A and B, to form an expanded 26-team competition. Two groups of thirteen teams were divided, with each team playing every other in the group once. The top three teams proceeded to the Super Six round, where they vied for the championship with the points from group stage being carried over. Each group's bottom four teams enter the relegation round. As per the rules set by AIFF, this year, no foreign players will be participating in the league. Canning, South 24 Parganas
Canning () is a town of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is situated on the western banks of the Matla River. It is the headquarters of the Canning subdivision. Konnagar
Konnagar is a town and a municipality of Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The town is under the jurisdiction of the Uttarpara police station in Serampore subdivision. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). History In 1931, Tomáš Baťa, the Czechoslovak shoe tycoon, established his first Indian operation in Konnagar. The Rabindra Sarobar Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Lake Gardens, Kolkata, India. It is used for football (soccer), football matches and serves as the home of many Calcutta Football League matches. History The venue opened in 1961. Mohun Bagan Ground
Mohun Bagan Ground, also known as Mohun Bagan–Calcutta FC Ground, is a football stadium located in Maidan, Kolkata, just opposite Eden Gardens. Due to certain restrictions by the Indian Armed Forces, who own all the land surrounding Fort William, the ground is legally leased to Mohun Bagan AC for their operations. The ground is mostly used as training facilities for the senior football team of Mohun Bagan, but also acts as the home ground in regional tournaments like Calcutta Football League where reserve team participates. Kalyani is a city and a municipality of Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of Kalyani subdivision.
