2023 Bulgarian Local Elections
Local elections in Bulgaria were held on 29 October 2023. Mayors and municipal councillors across the country were elected. Electoral system The elections to Bulgaria's municipal councils are conducted via proportional representation with an Open list, open list preferential voting system. The mayoral elections take place within the context of a majoritarian two-round system. The first round of the elections will be held on 29 October. If no candidate in a given constituency manages to gain 50% of the vote, a runoff election will be held for that constituency in the second round on 5 November. Voting is Compulsory voting, officially mandatory, but in practice there is no punishment for failing to vote and the law itself isn't strictly enforced. Mustafa Karadaya
Mustafa Sali Karadayi (, ) is a Bulgarian Turks, Turkish Bulgarian politician who has been a Member of the National Assembly of Bulgaria since 2013. Throughout his tenure, he also served as the leader of his party, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), from 2016 to 2023. Personal life Mustafa Karadayi is married and has two children. Veselin Naydenov Mareshki (; born 26 March 1967) is a Bulgarian businessman and politician. He is the founder and leader of political party Volya. Bulgarian Irredentism
Bulgarian irredentism is a term to identify the territory associated with a historical national state and a modern Bulgarian irredentist nationalist movement in the 19th and 20th centuries, which would include most of Macedonia, Thrace and Moesia. Volya Movement
Volya Movement () is a right-wing populist political party in Bulgaria. Before 2016, it was known variously as Today and Liberal Alliance. The party was established by Bulgarian businessman Veselin Mareshki, ostensibly on principles of anti-corruption and anti-elitism.
