The 2023 Birmingham Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 23, 2023, at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama. The 17th annual Birmingham Bowl featured the Troy Trojans from the Sun Belt Conference and the Duke Blue Devils from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game began at approximately 11:00 a.m. CST and was aired on ABC. The Birmingham Bowl was one of the 2023–24 bowl games concluding the 2023 FBS football season. The game was sponsored by gas station chain 76 and was officially known as the 76 Birmingham Bowl. Protective Stadium
Protective Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium owned and operated by the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, U.S. Its naming rights are provided by the Protective Life company, which will pay $1 million per year for 15 years. The stadium replaced Legion Field as the home of the UAB Blazers football program. The Blazers played their first game in the stadium on October 2, 2021, and lost to Liberty 36–12. In December 2021, the stadium hosted the Super 7, the football championship games of the Alabama High School Athletic Association, as part of a three-year rotation with Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and Jordan–Hare Stadium in Auburn that will run through at least 2032. 2023 Duke Blue Devils Football Team
The 2023 Duke Blue Devils football team represented Duke University in the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Blue Devils were led by head coach Mike Elko, in his second year, and played their home games at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. Schedule Duke and the ACC announced the 2023 football schedule on January 30, 2023. The 2023 season will be the conference's first season since 2004, that its scheduling format just includes one division. Kimani Vidal (born August 28, 2001) is an American football running back for the Troy Trojans. Early life and high school Vidal grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Marietta High School.
