2023 Big Ten Conference Football Season
The 2023 Big Ten Conference football season was the 128th season of college football played for the Big Ten Conference and part of the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This was the Big Ten's tenth season with 14 teams, and its thirteenth and final season with a divisional scheduling format. Next season the league will expand to 18 with the additions of UCLA Bruins football, UCLA, USC Trojans football, USC, Oregon Ducks football, Oregon and Washington Huskies football, Washington. This was the first year of the Big Ten's new media deal and thus its first year of no games airing on ESPN/ABC and first year of games airing on NBC Sports and CBS Sports properties. This was also the final year Northwestern played in the original Ryan Field (stadium), Ryan Field before its demolition. Mike Sainristil ( ; born October 3, 2000) is a Haitian American professional football cornerback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He was an All-American playing college football for the Michigan Wolverines, winning three Big Ten Conference titles and a national championship in 2023. Sainristil was selected by the Commanders in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. Early life Sainristil was born on October 3, 2000, in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The Big Ten Football Championship Game is a college football game held by the Big Ten Conference each year to determine the conference's season champion. The game, held after the regular season has been completed, currently matches the top two teams in the conference standings. It is typically held the first Saturday of December, although in 2020 it was played on the third Saturday of December due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The College Football Playoff (CFP) is an annual single-elimination tournament, knockout invitational tournament to determine a national champion for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level of college football competition in the United States.
