2023 Big 12 Conference Football Season
The 2023 Big 12 Conference football season was the 28th season of the Big 12 Conference football taking place during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The 2023 season was the first season for the Big 12 to have 14 members, with BYU Cougars football, BYU, Cincinnati Bearcats football, Cincinnati, Houston Cougars football, Houston, and UCF Knights football, UCF joining the conference. It was also the last season for founding conference members Oklahoma Sooners football, Oklahoma and Texas Longhorns football, Texas, who left for the Southeastern Conference prior to the start of the 2024 season. This is a list of yearly Big 12 Conference football champions. Champions are determined in a head to head matchup in the Big 12 Championship Game held at the end of the regular season. The game was played each year since the conference's formation in 1996 until 2010 and returned during the 2017 season. From 1996 to 2010 the championship game pitted the Big 12 North Division champion against the South Division champion in a game held after the regular season was completed. Between 2011 and 2016, the championship was earned in round-robin regular-season play among all conference members.
