2023 Belarusian First League
The 2023 Belarusian First League was the 33rd season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April 2023 and finished in November. The winners (Arsenal Dzerzhinsk) and runners-up (Dnepr Mogilev) were promoted to the 2024 Belarusian Premier League. The third-placed team (Vitebsk) were also promoted after winning the Belarusian Premier League play-off. The bottom-placed team (Osipovichi) were relegated to the 2024 Belarusian Second League. Team changes from 2022 season Two best teams of 2022 Belarusian First League ( Naftan Novopolotsk and Smorgon) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by two last-placed teams of 2022 Belarusian Premier League (Vitebsk and Dnepr Mogilev). Fourth-placed Maxline Rogachev won the promotion/relegation play-off against Arsenal Dzerzhinsk and won right to get promoted, while Arsenal relegated to the First League to replace Maxline. Belarusian First League
The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. History and format The typical format of the league involves 16 clubs playing a double round-robin tournament over 30 matchdays (with the exception of shortened 1992 and 1995 seasons, which were a single round-robin tournaments). On several occasions the number of participating teams was smaller (15 or 14), due to last minute withdrawals and no teams available for replacement. In most of the seasons, two best teams are getting promoted to Belarusian Premier League, while two worst teams are relegated Belarusian Second League. FC Ostrovets
FC Ostrovets is a Belarusian association football, football club based in Astravyets, Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. History ''FC Ostrovets'' founded in 2019 and joined Grodno Oblast league the same year. In 2020 FC Ostrovets joined Belarusian Second League. This is the first performance of the team from the Ostrovetsky district at the National level in its history. FC Orsha is a football club based in Orsha, Vitebsk Oblast. History The team was founded in 1951 as Trud Orsha. The club was renamed to ZShM in 1956 and then to Mashinostroitel Orsha in 1960.
