2023 BAL Sahara Conference
The Sahara Conference of the 2023 BAL season was played from 11 March to 21 March 2023 and was hosted in the Dakar Arena in Dakar, Senegal for a second straight season in a row. In a group of six teams, all team played each other one time. The top four teams in the standings advanced to the 2023 BAL Playoffs. REG were the defending Sahara Conference champions, having won the 2022 Conference. The defending champions US Monastir, who won the 2022 BAL Finals, were unable to qualify for the playoffs. Five teams finished with a 3–2 record, which meant head-to-head point difference decided the ranking. Stade Malien ended up as Conference winners. Standings Games 11 March ABC Fighters won the opening day match-up with hosts AS Douanes, behind Abdoulaye Harouna who made his team debut with 25 points. Dakar Université Club Basketball, also known simply as DUC or DUC Dakar, is a Senegalese basketball club based in Dakar. It is the basketball team of the Cheikh Anta Diop University. The team plays in the Nationale 1 and has won the league five times, its last being in 2021. Aliou Diarra
Aliou Fadiala Diarra (born 31 December 2001) is a Malian professional basketball player for FUS Rabat. Diarra was recruited on outside courts by Stade Malien and was an unknown in professional basketball circles until he gained attention in 2023 for his performance in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Adonis Jovon Filer (born July 11, 1993) is a Rwandan-American basketball player who currently plays for APR. He also plays for the Rwanda national basketball team in International competitions. Christopher Ewaoche Obekpa (born 14 November 1993) is a Nigerian professional basketball player who last played for the Rivers Hoopers.
