2023 Albanian Supercup
The 2023 Albanian Supercup was the 39th edition of the Albanian Supercup, an annual Albanian football match. The teams were decided by taking the trophy winners of the previous season's Kategoria Superiore champions and the winners of the Albanian Cup. The match was contested by Partizani, champions of the 2022–23 Kategoria Superiore, and Egnatia, the 2022–23 Albanian Cup winners. Futboll Klub Partizani is an Albanian professional football club (association football), football club based in Tirana, that competes in the Kategoria Superiore. Founded in 1946, the club was historically affiliated to the Albanian army. Partizani's home ground is the newly built stadium at Partizani Complex. The video assistant referee (VAR) is a Assistant referee (association football), match official in association football who assists the referee by reviewing decisions using video footage and providing advice to the referee based on those reviews. The assistant video assistant referee (AVAR) is a match official appointed to assist the VAR in the video operation room and around the pitch. 2022–23 Albanian Cup () was the seventy-first season of Albania's annual cup competition, the Albanian Cup. KF Egnatia, Egnatia won the cup, their first title in the competition. The Albanian Cup () is the main "knockout" competition in Albanian football. The competition started in 1939 as Kupa e Mbretit ( English:"The King's Cup"). The cup was suspended for the next eight years as the Second World War started. It started again in 1948 as "Kupa e Republikës" ( English: "Republic Cup") and from 1991 as "Kupa e Shqipërisë" (Albanian Cup). Today it is the second most important competition in Albania after the Kategoria Superiore. Kategoria Superiore (), also known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons with internet service provider, Abissnet, is a professional league for men's association football clubs in Albania. At the top of the Albanian football league system, it is the country's premier football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë.
