The 2022–23 Nashville Predators season was the 25th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997. The Predators were eliminated from playoff contention after the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Minnesota Wild on April 11, 2023, and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2013–14 season. Central Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2020–21 realignment. The 2022–23 Edmonton Oilers season was the 44th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, and 51st season for the organization overall, including their play in the World Hockey Association (WHA). On April 1, 2023, the Oilers clinched a playoff berth after a win over the Anaheim Ducks. The Oilers became the first NHL team since the 1995–96 Pittsburgh Penguins to have three players surpass the 100-point plateau, with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins all achieving the feat. The Capitals missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2013–14 season (and only the second time since 2006–07 and changing their colors back to a more patriotic color scheme), ending their eight-season playoff streak, being eliminated from playoff contention on April 4, 2023, after the Florida Panthers defeated the Buffalo Sabres 2–1. This was the first season without longtime winger Dustin Brown on the roster as he announced his retirement on April 28, 2022, following the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs. The 2022–23 Dallas Stars season was the 56th season for National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967, and the 30th season since the franchise relocated from Minnesota prior to the start of the 1993–94 NHL season. The first game of the season was played at Bridgestone Arena against the Nashville Predators on October 13, 2022, with the first home game against the Predators at American Airlines Center on October 15. During the off-season, Rick Bowness resigned as head coach of the Stars, and Peter DeBoer was hired to replace him. Kevin Lankinen
Kevin Lankinen (born 28 April 1995) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators. Playing career Liiga Lankinen has played primarily for HIFK of the Liiga from 2014 to 2018. He also played one match for Jokerit and two for KooKoo, and 10 for Kiekko-Vantaa of Mestis. In 2014, Lankinen signed a three-year contract with HIFK. In the 2015 playoffs, he participated in the longest game in Liiga's history, lasting 134 minutes and 14 seconds. His team won 2–1 and advanced to the quarterfinals.
