The 2022–23 Ardal NW season (also known as the 2022–23 Lock Stock Ardal NW season for sponsorship reasons) is the second season of the new third-tier northern region football in Welsh football pyramid, part of the Ardal Leagues. Teams The league was made up of 16 teams competing for one automatic promotion place to Cymru North, whilst the second-placed team qualified for a play-off with the second-placed team of Ardal NE. Three teams are relegated to Tier 4. On 21 September 2022, Rhydymwyn FC notified the Football Association of Wales of their withdrawal from the Ardal Leagues. Announcing on Social Media, Rhydymwyn FC said: “Sad day today to announce Rhydymwyn FC & Rhydymwyn Development have resigned from @ArdalNorthwest and the Wales FA Reserve League. Caersws (; ) is a village and community on the River Severn, in the Welsh county of Powys; it was formerly in Montgomeryshire. It is located west of Newtown, halfway between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury. At the 2011 census, the community had a population of 1,586 – a figure which includes the settlements of Clatter, Llanwnnog and Pontdolgoch; the village itself had a population of slightly over 800. Etymology The name is derived from the Welsh placename elements "Caer-" and "Sŵs". "Caer" translates as "fort" and likely refers to the Roman settlement. The derivation of the second element is less certain. Penybont (also sometimes spelled Pen-y-Bont) is a small village and community in Radnorshire, Powys, Wales. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 428. Trethomas () is a small village northeast of Caerphilly, southeast Wales, situated in the Caerphilly county borough, within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire. It neighbours Bedwas and Machen, and forms a council ward in conjunction with those communities. The FAW Welsh Trophy is a knock-out association football, football competition contested annually by teams from Wales and the borders. The Football Association of Wales is the organising body of this competition, which has been run every year since its inception in 1890–91 Welsh Amateur Cup, 1890–91 (except during the two World Wars and the COVID-19 pandemic) for clubs competing in the lower echelons of the Welsh football league system. It was known as the Welsh Junior Cup until 1902, when it became the Welsh Amateur Cup, a title it held until 1974, when it was renamed the FAW Intermediate Cup.
