2022–23 Cape Town Tigers Season
The 2022–23 season of the Cape Town Tigers was the 3rd season of the South African basketball team. The Tigers played in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for a second straight season, following their win in the Road to BAL's East Division. In the 2023 BAL season, the Tigers were coached by former New York Knicks assistant coach Rasheed Hazzard. They were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Stade Malien, their second consecutive year in which they were eliminated in this round. Domestically, the Tigers were coached by Florsheim Ngwenya and made their debut in the Basketball National League (BNL), South Africa's sole professional league. They went undefeated and won the semifinal and final by wide margins to be crowned South African champions for the third time. Cape Town Tigers
The Cape Town Tigers are a South African professional basketball team founded in Cape Town. The Tigers have played in the Basketball National League (BNL) and played in three seasons of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) between 2022 and 2024. Established in 2019, the Tigers are based in Gugulethu, and have won the South African national championship three times, and qualified for the BAL through the Road to BAL three times. History The Cape Town Tigers (Pty) Ltd. was founded in 2019 by U.S.-based holding company Severus LLC. The Tigers' first roster featured American import players Davon Dillard, Shaq McFarlan and Nigerian import Austin Ajukwa. Two former NBA players Billy Preston and Ben Uzoh joined the second roster in 2021 and helped winning the first national championship. Evans Ganapamo
Evans Ganapamo (born 19 August 1994) is a French-Central African professional basketball player for the Nairobi City Thunder of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He played college basketball at the University of New Orleans and Prairie View A&M University. Internationally, Ganapamo represents the Central African Republic national team. Early life and college career Ganapamo was born in France to Central African parents and moved to the United States at age 12 where his father was working as a doctor. He played college basketball for the University of New Orleans after receiving a scholarship. Ganapamo suffered from injuries and a debilitating staphylococcus infection in his second season.
