2022 WTA Finals – Singles
Caroline Garcia defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 WTA Finals. Garcia became the first Frenchwoman to win the season-ending championships since Amélie Mauresmo in 2005. Garbiñe Muguruza was the reigning champion, but did not qualify this year. Sabalenka became the fourth player in the Open Era – after Steffi Graf, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams – to defeat the world's top-three ranked players at the same tournament, defeating world No. 2 Ons Jabeur and No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the round robin and No. 1 Iga Świątek in the semifinals. She has career-high rankings in singles of world No. 3, achieved October 2022, and in doubles of world No. 1, set on 11 September 2023. Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2012 WTA Tour Championships. It was her third singles title at the event.
