The chief commissioner of Rodrigues () is the gubernatorial head of the region of Rodrigues since it gained autonomy within the Republic of Mauritius on 12 October 2002. Serge Clair
Louis Serge Clair (born April 1, 1940) was the Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues from February 4, 2003 until 4 August 2006, and former minister of Rodrigues. Serge Clair, in the 1960s, abandoned priesthood to pursue a career in politics. He went to Australia to further his studies. After his studies, he returned to Rodrigues to engage actively in politics. Serge Clair founded his party, the Rodrigues People's Organisation (or OPR) in 1976. Quickly enough, he grew in popularity, and in 1982, his party won a seat in the general assembly of Mauritius for the first time. He won the elections in 1983, 1987, 1991, 1995 and 2000. In 2002, he resigned from the assembly to run in the Rodrigues regional election. Johnson Roussety
Johnson Roussety is the current Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues in Mauritius. He held the same position from 4 August 2006 to 7 January 2011. Early life and education Roussety was born on 27 August 1975. He attended Oysterbay Government School in Rodrigues as well as Grand Bay and NicolayGovt Schools in Mauritius. He studied up to the HSC at the Rodrigues College in Port Mathurin from 1987 to 1993. He ranked first in his HSC cohort in Rodrigues and was a laureate winning a four-year university scholarship from France's government. He attended the University de la Reunion, where he completed a DEUG in science economics from 1994 to 1996. In 1997, he was awarded a degree in econometrics from the University of the Mediterranean - Aix - Marseille 2. In 1998 he was awarded a master's degree in economics from the University of Paris 1 - Pantheon Sorbonne with specialisation in economic analysis and policy. Gaëtan Jabeemissar
Gaetan Jabeemisar is a Mauritian politician who served as the Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues from 12 January 2011 to 11 February 2012. He assumed the position following the resignation of the former Chief Commissioner, Johnson Roussety, who was under a motion of no confidence. Hailing from the village of Corail-Petite-Butte on Rodrigues island, Jabeemissar completed his secondary studies before working in education for 27 years. He left this job to enter politics as a member of the Rodrigues Movement party, and was elected to the Rodrigues Regional Assembly during its first elections in 2002. He was re-elected in 2006 and rose to the position of Deputy Chief Commissioner.
