2022 Paris–Roubaix Femmes
The 2022 Paris–Roubaix Femmes (officially Paris–Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift) was a French Road bicycle racing, road cycling one-day race that took place on 16 April 2022. It was the 2nd edition of Paris–Roubaix Femmes and the 8th event of the 2022 UCI Women's World Tour. The race was won by the Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini, after a solo break with around 30 kilometres remaining, the second win by a long solo break in succession, after Lizzie Deignan's 2021 Paris–Roubaix Femmes, inaugural edition triumph in 2021. Route The route used a near identical course to the first edition, with the only change being an additional starting circuit in Denain. The race finished on the velodrome in Roubaix after covering , with of cobblestones, spread out over 17 sectors – including the famed Carrefour de l'Arbre and the Mons-en-Pévèle – both ranked at "five stars" in difficulty. 2022 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2022 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that included twenty-three road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2022 in women's road cycling, 2022 women's cycling season. It was the seventh edition of the UCI Women's World Tour, the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with 2022 Strade Bianche Women, Strade Bianche on 5 March, and finished with the final stage of the Tour de Romandie Féminin on 9 October. Dutch rider Annemiek van Vleuten () became the first rider to win the individual classification for a third time, having previously won the 2018 UCI Women's World Tour, 2018 and 2021 UCI Women's World Tour, 2021 titles. Floortje Mackaij (born 18 October 1995) is a Dutch professional Road bicycle racing, road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team, UCI Women's WorldTeam Movistar Team (women's team), Movistar Team. After switching from speed skating to road cycling she became the 2013 junior Dutch National time trial Champion and won a silver medal in the junior time trial at the 2013 European Road Championships. Marta Cavalli (born 18 March 1998) is an Italian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . In 2018, she won the Italian National Road Race Championships. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the road race – finishing 8th overall. In 2022, Cavalli won two of the Ardennes classics – Amstel Gold Race and La Flèche Wallonne Féminine. She then finished second at Giro Donne. In July 2022, she was named as one of the pre-race favourites for the first edition of the Tour de France Femmes, however Cavalli crashed heavily on stage 2 and had to abandon the race. Roubaix Velodrome
The Roubaix Velodrome (officially Vélodrome André-Pétrieux) is a velodrome in Roubaix, Nord, France. It was opened in 1936 and has hosted the finish of the one-day " monument classic" cycling race Paris–Roubaix since 1943, and the Paris–Roubaix Femmes since its inception in 2021. The race moved to the current stadium in 1943, and there it has stayed with the exceptions of 1986, 1987 and 1988 when the finish was in the avenue des Nations-Unies, outside the offices of La Redoute, the mail-order company which sponsored the race. The shower room inside the velodrome is distinctive for the open, three-sided, low-walled concrete stalls, each with a brass plaque to commemorate a winner. These include Peter Van Petegem, Eddy Merckx, Peter Sagan, Roger De Vlaeminck, Rik Van Looy and Fausto Coppi. Marta Bastianelli (born 30 April 1987) is an Italian former professional racing cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2006 to 2023. Bastianelli won the women's road race at the 2007 UCI Road World Championships ahead of Marianne Vos and Giorgia Bronzini, and also won the equivalent race at the 2018 European Road Cycling Championships, again beating Vos. Elisa Balsamo (born 27 February 1998) is an Italian road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's World Team , and represents Italy at international competitions. After competing at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in the women's junior road race she became junior world champion at the 2016 UCI Road World Championships in the junior's road race. She won the gold medal at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the team pursuit. Early life Balsamo was born in Cuneo in 1998. Her father was an amateur cyclist.
