2022 Paris–Nice
The 2022 Paris–Nice was a road cycling stage race that took place between 6 and 13 March 2022 in France. It was the 80th edition of Paris–Nice and the fourth race of the 2022 UCI World Tour. Teams All 18 UCI WorldTeams and four UCI ProTeams made up the 22 teams that participated in the race. Each team entered a full squad of seven riders, for a total of 154 riders who started the race. A wave of flu-like symptoms, although with no positive COVID-19 test results, resulted in an unusually high attrition rate as many riders were forced to withdraw from the race. A total of 37 riders withdrew before the final stage or abandoned during the stage, as most of them were not in contention for any of the final classifications. As a result, only 59 riders finished the race, which was the fewest amount since the 1985 edition. 2022 UCI World Tour
The 2022 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included thirty-one road cycling events throughout the 2022 cycling season. The tour started with the UAE Tour on 20 February, and concluded with the Il Lombardia on 8 October. Events The 2022 calendar was announced in the autumn of 2021. Cancelled events Due to COVID-19-related logistical concerns raised by teams regarding travel to Australia (including strict quarantine requirements), the Tour Down Under (18–23 January) and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (30 January) were cancelled. On 8 June 2022, the Benelux Tour (29 August – 4 September) was cancelled due to a pressurised calendar. On 17 June 2022, the Tour of Guangxi (13–18 October) was also cancelled due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Vierzon () is a commune in the Cher department, Centre-Val de Loire, France. Geography A medium-sized town by the banks of the river Cher with some light industry and an area of forestry and farming to the north. Fabio Jakobsen
Fabio Jakobsen (born 31 August 1996) is a Dutch cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career During the 2019 Vuelta a España Jakobsen won two stages, including the final stage of the race on stage 21 in Madrid. A few metres before the finish of the 1st stage in the 2020 Tour de Pologne he heavily crashed after Dylan Groenewegen deviated from his line, forcing Jakobsen into the barriers. The race doctor initially reported that Jakobsen had suffered several major injuries, including serious brain trauma and damage to the upper respiratory tract, a broken palate, and heavy blood loss, and was in life-threatening condition. On 7 August 2020, the race organisers announced that Jakobsen was out of the induced coma and in "good condition". On 18 August 2020, Jakobsen said that he was "glad to be alive" following the crash. Christophe Laporte
Christophe Laporte (born 11 December 1992 in La Seyne-sur-Mer) is a French cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Laporte was a member of from 2014 to 2021. He was named in the Team Cofidis start list for the Tour de France for seven consecutive years between 2015 and 2021, completing all but one of them. In 2022 he joined Jumbo-Visma, among the most powerful teams in cycling, and in his first major stage race with the team led the podium sweep with Primož Roglič and Wout Van Aert on stage 1 of Paris–Nice. In the 2022 Tour de France, he was a key teammate of leader Jonas Vingegaard, was instrumental in helping the team win three different jerseys, and also won stage 19 at Cahors. This was a rare win in that he attacked after the sprint trains were already operating at top speed, and actually held off the remaining elite sprinters long enough to win the stage. Mantes-la-Ville
Mantes-la-Ville () is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located in the western suburbs of Paris from the center. Mantes-la-Ville is located at the confluence of the Seine and the Vaucouleurs. The Paris–Rouen rail line separates Mantes-la-Ville from the larger commune of Mantes-la-Jolie. The A13 autoroute to Normandy also passes through Mantes-la-Ville. Population Inhabitants are called ''Mantevillois''. Approximately one-third of the town's population is Muslim.
