2022 Oklahoma Sooners Softball Team
The 2022 Oklahoma Sooners softball team was an American college softball team that represented the University of Oklahoma during the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. The Sooners were led by Patty Gasso in her twenty-eighth season, and played their home games at OU Softball Complex. They competed in the Big 12 Conference, where they finished the season with a 59–3 record, including 17–1 in conference play. Previous season The Sooners finished the 2021 Oklahoma Sooners softball team, 2021 season 56–4 overall, and 16–1 in the Big 12, finishing in first place in their conference. Patty Gasso
Patricia Marie Gasso (née Froehlich; born May 27, 1962) is an American softball coach for the Oklahoma Sooners and United States women's national softball team. She has been the head softball coach at the University of Oklahoma since 1995. She has led the Sooners to eight national championships (2000, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024) and has compiled a career record of 1,558–359–2 and a winning percentage of . Kinzie Hansen (born October 12, 2001) is an American professional softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Association of Fastpitch Professionals (AFP) and is a member of the United States women's national softball team. She played college softball at Oklahoma where she won the Women's College World Series championship four consecutive years. Early life Hansen was born to Jason and Nicole Hansen. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos are the intercollegiate athletic teams representing the University of California, Santa Barbara. Alyssa Brito
Alyssa Brito is an American former college softball player for Oregon and Oklahoma. While at Oklahoma she won the Women's College World Series championship three consecutive years. High school career Brito began her high school career at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, California during her freshman year. She then attended Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California. During her sophomore year in 2018, she was named first-team All-Empire League. During her junior year in 2019, she hit .510 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs. Grace Turk
Grace Turk (née Lyons; born October 17, 1999) is an American former college softball player and a member of the United States women's national softball team. She played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners where she won three consecutive Women's College World Series from 2021 to 2023. Early life Lyons was born to John and Erin Lyons. She was born in Bitburg, Germany, and grew up in Peoria, Arizona, since her dad was an F-16 pilot in the Air force for 25 years. Her father played college ice hockey for the Air Force Academy. Infielder
An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field, between first base and third base. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. Lynnsie Sarah Elam-Phillips (born May 27, 1998) is an American softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF) and current assistant coach at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Catcher
Catcher is a position in baseball and softball. When a batter takes their turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the (home) umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. In addition to this primary duty, the catcher is also called upon to master many other skills in order to field the position well. The role of the catcher is similar to that of the wicket-keeper in cricket. Positioned behind home plate and facing toward the outfield, the catcher can see the whole field, and is therefore in the best position to direct and lead the other players in a defensive play. Jordy Bahl
Jordyn Bahl (born July 24, 2002) is an American college softball pitcher for Nebraska. As a freshman at Oklahoma she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year in 2022. As a junior in 2025 she was named NFCA National Player of the Year. High school career Bahl attended Papillion-La Vista Senior High School in Papillion, Nebraska.
