2022 MLS All-Star Game
The 2022 Major League Soccer All-Star Game was the 26th annual Major League Soccer All-Star Game, an exhibition soccer match in the United States. The game, featuring all-star teams from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX, took place on August 10, 2022, at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was the second MLS All-Star Game to be played under the inter-league format. The all-star game also included a skills challenge, concerts, and other events in the days before the match. The MLS All-Stars won 2–1 with goals from Carlos Vela in the third minute and Raúl Ruidíaz in the 73rd minute; Liga MX earned a consolation goal in the 84th minute through a strike from Kevin Álvarez. Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, who made four saves, was named the match's most valuable player. Venue Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota, home to Minnesota United FC, was announced as the host venue for the All-Star Game in October 2021. The 2022 Major League Soccer season was the 27th season of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. The league had 28 clubs following the addition of Charlotte FC as an expansion team. The regular season began on February 26 and concluded on October 9. The MLS Cup Final occurred on November 5, sixteen days prior to the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. New York City FC entered the season as defending champions, having defeated the Portland Timbers in MLS Cup 2021, while the New England Revolution entered the season as the reigning Supporters' Shield winners. DeAndre Roselle Yedlin (born July 9, 1993) is an American professional soccer player who plays for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami and the United States national team. Primarily a right-back, he has also featured as a right wing-back and wide midfielder. Youth, college, and amateur Yedlin was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Sean Everet Johnson (born May 31, 1989) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Toronto FC and the United States national team.
