2022 Liège–Bastogne–Liège
The 2022 Liège–Bastogne–Liège was a one-day Belgian road cycling race that took place on 24 April 2022 and was won by Remco Evenepoel. It was the 108th edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège and the 17th event of the 2022 UCI World Tour. 2022 UCI World Tour
The 2022 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included thirty-one road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2022 in men's road cycling, 2022 cycling season. The tour started with the 2022 UAE Tour, UAE Tour on 20 February, and concluded with the 2022 Il Lombardia, Il Lombardia on 8 October. Events The 2022 calendar was announced in the autumn of 2021. Cancelled events Due to COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19-related logistical concerns raised by teams regarding travel to Australia (including strict quarantine requirements), the Tour Down Under (18–23 January) and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (30 January) were cancelled. Julian Alaphilippe (; born 11 June 1992) is a French professional road cyclist, former cyclo-cross racer and two-time UCI World Road Champion, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . He is the brother of racing cyclist Bryan Alaphilippe. Career Early career Born in Saint-Amand-Montrond, Alaphilippe started his career competing in the cyclo-cross discipline and finished second in the Junior World Cyclo-Cross Championships in 2010. Michael Russell Woods (born 12 October 1986) is a Canadian professional racing cyclist, who rides for UCI ProTeam . An accomplished runner as well, Woods was the first person to have both run a sub-four-minute mile and complete the Tour de France. Career Athletics career Woods' first sport was ice hockey and his childhood ambition was to play as a left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Prior to becoming a cyclist, Woods was a promising middle-distance runner, setting Canadian national junior records in the mile and 3000 metres in 2005, as well as taking the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. However, he suffered a recurring stress fracture in his left foot, exacerbated by excessive training and racing, resulting in his running his last race in 2007. Marc Hirschi (born 24 August 1998) is a Swiss cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Hirschi is known for his skills as a puncheur and one-day specialist, with wins in the hilly classics Clásica de San Sebastián and La Flèche Wallonne.
