2022 Leeds Rhinos Season
This article details the Leeds Rhinos's rugby league football club's 2022 season. They were coached by Richard Agar until May 2022, Jamie Jones-Buchanan as an interim coach and Rohan Smith from April 2022 onwards. The Rhinos competed in both the 2022 Betfred Super League and the 2022 Challenge Cup. Season review On 12 February, Leeds began their Super League campaign with a 22–20 loss to Warrington Wolves followed by losses at Wigan Warriors and at home to Catalans Dragons before their first win came in Round 4 with a 34–18 victory at Wakefield Trinity. Leeds had an early exit from the Challenge Cup with a 40–16 defeat by Castleford Tigers, and their run of poor results leading to the departure of Richard Agar as head coach meant that by mid-April Leeds were 11th in the table. Super League XXVII
Super League XXVII, known as the Betfred Super League XXVII for sponsorship reasons, was the 27th season of the Super League and 128th season of rugby league in Great Britain. The season commenced on 10 February 2022 ended with the Grand Final on 24 September 2022. St Helens were the reigning champions going into Super League XXVII, after successfully retaining their title, beating Catalans Dragons in the 2021 Grand Final. For the first time in Super League, there were two French teams in the competition, as Toulouse Olympique were promoted from the Championship, by beating Featherstone Rovers in the 2021 Million Pound Game. However, they were immediately relegated back to the Championship, following a 14–24 defeat at home to Catalans Dragons on 25 August, and after only winning 5 games from 25, saw them rooted to the bottom of the table, and with only 2 games of the regular season remaining, and 4 points to play for, they could not catch Wakefield in 11th place. Wigan Warriors
The Wigan Warriors are a professional rugby league club in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, which competes in the Super League. Formed in 1872 as Wigan Football Club, Wigan was a founding member of the Rugby Football League, Northern Rugby Football Union following the History of rugby league, schism from the Rugby Football Union in 1895. Odsal Stadium
Odsal Stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, is the home of Bradford Bulls Rugby League team. It has also been used by the Bradford Dukes speedway team, BRISCA F1 and F2 stock cars, the football team Bradford City, following the Valley Parade fire, and for baseball, basketball, kabbadi, show jumping, tennis, live music, international Rugby League and the 1997 Speedway Grand Prix of Great Britain. Bradford Bulls
The Bradford Bulls are a professional rugby league club in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, playing in the Championship. They have won five Challenge Cups, six league championships and three World Club Challenges. The team jersey is predominantly white with red, amber and black chevrons. In 1907, Bradford F.C., founder member of the Rugby Football League, switched codes to association football and Bradford Northern, often abbreviated to Northern, was formed by members who wished to continue rugby. Bradford Northern were renamed Bradford Bulls in 1996, at the start of Super League. Bradford's main rivalries are with Leeds, Halifax and Huddersfield. Old Trafford () is a football stadium in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, and the home of Manchester United. Super League Grand Final
The Super League Grand Final is the championship-deciding game of rugby league's Super League competition. It is played between two teams who have qualified via the Super League Play-Off series. The winning team receives the Super League Trophy and goes on to play the NRL champions in the World Club Challenge. The Harry Sunderland Trophy is awarded to the man of the match. The match is normally played at Old Trafford in Greater Manchester. Only 4 clubs have won the Super League, as of 2022 - St Helens (10), Leeds Rhinos (8), Wigan Warriors (5), and Bradford Bulls (4). Hull Kingston Rovers are a professional rugby league club based in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, England, that competes in the Super League, the top tier of British rugby league. The club has won five league championships, and one Challenge Cup. Formed in 1882, the club joined the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1897. Toulouse Olympique or TO XIII is a professional rugby league club in Toulouse, south-west France. Founded in 1937, two years after the French Rugby League Federation, the club is a six-time winner of the French Rugby League Championship. The club played in the Rugby Football League's Championship competition in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
