2022 Kempsey, Shellharbour And Singleton Local Elections
The 2022 New South Wales local elections were held on 30 July 2022 to elect councillors in three local government areas (LGAs) in New South Wales, Australia. The elections were held as a re-run after the New South Wales Electoral Commission's online voting system crashed at the 2021 local elections. Background At the 2021 elections, the NSW Electoral Commission (NSWEC) used an online voting system, iVote, in a number of LGAs. Analysis commissioned by the NSWEC found 55 voters in Singleton, 54 in Shellharbour and 34 voters in Kempsey who attempted to use iVote were prevented from casting their vote. On 5 April 2022, the Supreme Court of NSW ordered new elections in all three councils. The mayoral elections in were not affected, nor were the results in Shellharbour's B Ward, C Ward and D Ward. Kempsey Shire is a local government area in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. The shire services an area of and is located on the Pacific Highway and the North Coast railway line. Kempsey Shire was formed on 1 October 1975 by the amalgamation of the former Kempsey Municipality and the former Macleay Shire. At the , Kempsey Shire had a high proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing within its boundaries; being 11.1 per cent of the resident population, more than four times the national and state averages of 2.5 per cent. Marianne Saliba
Marianne Frances Saliba (born 16 April 1960) is an Australian former politician. She was the Mayor of the City of Shellharbour from 2012 to the 23 December 2021. She was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2007, representing the (now abolished) electorate of Electoral district of Illawarra, Illawarra. Saliba is the daughter of Alex and May Hudson and was the born in Barrhead, Scotland and migrated to Australia in 1964 with her parents. She was educated at St Anne's College, Dapto, New South Wales, Dapto and did Secretarial Studies at the Dapto TAFE. She completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Wollongong in 1999. She later worked for Terry Rumble, former member for Electoral district of Illawarra, Illawarra. She is married with four adopted children, Matthew, Dennis, Sara and Alexandra.
