2022 Kate Sheppard Cup
The 2022 Kate Sheppard Cup is New Zealand's women's 28th annual knockout football competition. This is the fifth year that the competition is known by the Kate Sheppard Cup, or ''New Zealand Football Foundation Kate Sheppard Cup'' for sponsorship purposes, after previously been known as the Women's Knockout Cup since its establishment. The cup has had thirteen different winners lift the trophy over its 28 year history with Lynn-Avon United from Auckland being the most successful and Wellington United being the current holders from the 2021 season. The 2022 competition has four rounds before quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. Competition will run in three regions (northern, central/capital, southern) until the quarter-finals, from which stage the draw will be open. Wellington United AFC is an association football club based in Wellington, New Zealand, that competes in the Central League. History Wellington Diamond United Wellington Diamond United was the result of the merger of Diamond and Zealandia/Wellington United in 1968. Cambridge F.C. is a football club based in Cambridge, New Zealand. It currently plays in the NRFL Division 2. In 2020, Cambridge finished 8th in a season shortened by restrictions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, they came 5th in the league. Beachlands Maraetai AFC is a football club based in Beachlands, New Zealand. They currently play in the NRFL Northern Conference. History The club finished second in the NRF Championship in both 2017 and 2018, losing the promotion playoff games both years.
