2022 FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup Series
The 2022 FIG World Cup circuit in Rhythmic Gymnastics is a series of competitions officially organized and promoted by the International Gymnastics Federation. Formats On February 26, 2022, the International Gymnastics Federation cancelled all events scheduled to take place in Russia and Belarus due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Moscow World Challenge Cup, originally planned for 19–21 August and the Minsk World Challenge Cup, originally planned for 2–4 September, were affected by this decision and removed from the FIG calendar. Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup
The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is a competition for rhythmic gymnastics sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). It is one of the few tournaments in rhythmic gymnastics officially organized by FIG, as well as the World Championships (including the Junior World Championships), the gymnastics competitions at the Olympic Games and the Youth Olympics, and the rhythmic gymnastics events at the World Games. The World Cup series should not be confused with the Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix series, which is neither officially organized nor promoted by FIG. History In 1983, FIG decided to hold a World Cup event in rhythmic gymnastics. The event was staged as an alternative to the World Championships, a tournament held, at the time, every four years. Ekaterina Olegovna Vedeneeva (russian: Екатерина Олеговна Веденеева; ; born 23 June 1994) is a Russian individual rhythmic gymnast competing for Slovenia since 2018. She made her debut for Slovenia in August 2018 at the World Cup event in Kazan, Russian Federation. On national level, she is a three-time (2019, 2021, 2022) Slovenian National All-around champion. In 2021, she became the first Slovenian rhythmic gymnast to compete at Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Elzhana Taniyeva (russian: Эльжана Таниева; born 6 September 2005) is a Kazakh rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2024 Asian all-around champion and will represent Kazakhstan at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She is the 2022 Asian Games all-around and team silver medalist. She won three medals at the 2021 Summer World University Games and four medals at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games. Panagiota Lytra (born 14 December 2006) is a Greek rhythmic gymnast. Career Lytra made her breakthrough in 2022 when she became senior. At Miss Valentine in Tartu she won gold with clubs, silver with ball and bronze with ribbon, catching the eyes of fans worldwide. Lili Mizuno (born February 4, 2001) is an American rhythmic gymnast. She is the Pan American Championships 2021 Group All-around bronze medalist and 2017 All-around silver medalist. She competed in the group all-around at the 2020 Summer Olympics, finishing eleventh in qualification. Gymnastics career Junior Mizuno began training in rhythmic gymnastics when she was eight years old, after an artistic gymnastics coach suggested it. Sol Martínez Fainberg (born 13 November 2002, Oviedo) is a retired Spanish-Argentinian rhythmic gymnast. Margarita Kolosov (born 11 March 2004 in Potsdam, Germany) is a German rhythmic gymnast. Kolosov has been training at the federal base in Fellbach with Yuliya Raskina since 2016.
