2022 Doha Diamond League
The 2022 Doha Diamond League, officially the Ooredoo Doha Meeting, was the 24th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Doha, Qatar. Held on 13 May 2022 at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium, it was the opening day for the 2022 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. The pole vault competition was held one day after the other events, on 14 May. The meeting was characterized by strong winds exceeeding , preventing fast times in most events 400 m and longer. Nonetheless, Francine Niyonsaba upset Faith Kipyegon to win the 3000 m, and Soufiane El Bakkali won the men's 3000 m steeplechase by just 0.01 seconds. Results Athletes competing in the Diamond League disciplines earned extra compensation and points which went towards qualifying for the Diamond League finals in Zürich. Marco Arop
Marco Arop (born September 20, 1998) is a Canadian track and field athlete competing in the middle distance events. He currently holds a personal best of 1:43:26 in the 800 m. He is the 2022 World bronze medallist and the 2019 Pan American champion in that discipline. Arop represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life The Arop family fled Sudan during the civil war of the 1990s when Marco was a toddler. He spent his early years sharing an apartment in Egypt with his parents and three older brothers before they immigrated to Canada. Peter Bol (runner)
Nagmeldin "Peter" Bol (born 22 February 1994) is an Australian middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. He placed fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and won the silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Bol represented Australia in the men's 800 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He is the Oceanian record holder for the event. In January 2023, it was announced that he had been provisionally suspended by Athletics Australia after failed out-of-competition doping test, with the test showing signs of synthetic EPO. Femi Ogunode
Femi Seun Ogunode (born 15 May 1991 in Ondo City) is a Nigerian-born sprint athlete who competes internationally for Qatar since 2010. His personal best of 9.91 at 100 m in 2015 made him the former holder of the Asian 100m record, which was tied by China's Su Bingtian in 2018 and surpassed in 2021 at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Ogunode made his international debut for Qatar at the 2010 Asian Games and won a 200 metres/400 metres double. Filippo Tortu (born 15 June 1998) is an Italian sprinter with a personal best in the 100 meters of 9.99, the first Italian in history to break the 10 seconds barrier. He won the gold medal in 100 metres at the 2017 European U20 Championships and the silver medal at the 2016 World U20 Championships. Aaron Brown (born 27 May 1992) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. As part of Canada's 4×100 m relay team, he is a two-time Olympic medallist at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, and the 2022 World champion. Andre De Grasse (born November 10, 1994) is a Canadian sprinter. A six-time Olympic medallist, De Grasse is the reigning Olympic champion in the 200 m, and also won the silver in the 200 m in 2016. Jereem Richards (born 13 January 1994) is a Trinidadian track and field sprinter who specializes in the 200 metres and 400 metres events. Richards is from Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago, and attended the University of Alabama. Fredrick Lee Kerley (born May 7, 1995) is an American track and field sprinter known primarily for competing in the 400 meters distance but more recently the 100 meters and 200 meters.
