2022 Bowls England National Finals
The 2022 Bowls England National Finals are a series of lawn bowls events to determine the National champions of England. The Championships are being held from 25 August to 11 September 2022, at the Royal Leamington Spa Bowls Club in Victoria Park, Leamington Spa. They are organised by Bowls England, and are open to lawn bowlers who qualify via their County Championships. Sam Tolchard successfully defended his two wood singles title. Rebecca Moorbey became only the second woman (after Sophie Tolchard) to secure both the women's singles and women's junior singles titles. In the elite pairs events, Nick Brett won his second national title partnering Lewis Baker and Sophie Tolchard won her eighth title partnering Harriet Stevens. Victoria Park, Leamington Spa
Victoria Park is a public park in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England. It is situated about half a mile (800 m) west of the town centre and is on the south bank of the River Leam. The total area of the park as it stands today is . History & Features Up until the 1830s the park was just part of farmland on the edge of the growing spa town. It was at that time that one of the local land owning families, the Willes, began to hold archery competitions on the land. In the middle of the nineteenth century Leamington Cricket club made their first home there and in the 1860s the New Riverside Walk was opened. The park was extensively landscaped and redesigned in 1899 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Before the Royal Show moved to Stoneleigh Park one of its venues was Victoria Park. The men's fours is one of the events at the annual Bowls England National Championships. History From 1905 until 1914, the event was called the Charles Wood Australian Cup. Lorraine Kuhler
Lorraine Kuhler (born 7 June 1990) is an English international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Kuhler took up bowls at the age of 11 at her parent's club in Brighton. Kuhler is a National triples champion (2014) and three times winner of the National Junior Pairs at the Bowls England National Championships when bowling for Worthing Pavilion and Sussex. In 2011, she won two medals at the European Bowls Championships in Portugal. In 2019, she won the gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2020, she was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Katherine Hawes
Katherine Elizabeth Alice Hawes (born 1969) is an English female lawn and indoor bowler international. Bowls career International events In 1997 she won the pairs gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships with Mary Price. The following year she represented England in the pairs again with Mary Price, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 1999 she won a fours silver at the Atlantic Championships in Cape Town and the following year she won a triples silver medal at the 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa. Jamie-Lea Winch
Jamie-Lea Marshall (née Jamie-Lea Winch) (born 18 October 1990) is an English international lawn bowler. Bowls career Jamie competed for England in the women's pairs at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a silver medal with Natalie Melmore. In 2015 she won the triples silver medal and fours bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2016, she was part of the fours team with Rebecca Wigfield, Wendy King and Ellen Falkner who won the silver medal at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch. Julie Saunders (bowls)
Julie Saunders married name Julie Leake, is an English female international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Saunders won the English National title in 2005 representing Hampshire. By winning the National title she represented England at the 2006 World Singles Champion of Champions event in Christchurch, New Zealand where she won the gold medal defeating Julie Keegan in the final.
